Chris LaFay: I'm also. What's loading up now. The tags typically work in pairs. Like it's like you're an agency owner or a director of a brand. And so I'm having it, it's programming into that list pairings. So like below the list that are all individualized, there's going to be like five common pairings that if you click it, it'll just automatically do both of them at the same time for you.

Chris LaFay: Also, I got our. Because I'm going to do more posts about getting people to just sign up because I hear from a lot of people like I can't make the thing, but I want to come. So keep me in the loop. So this is what I did today. So if you go under your settings section, upload, upload a photo of yourself. That works now.

Chris LaFay: And I have a sign up page. This back. This admin screen is ugly as crap and I don't really care. Sign up page. Everything from sign up page down to change password. This is all one thing. So you have your own signup page URL that is yours.
Mickey Mellen: This doesn't sign up for any event. This just gets them into the system.
Chris LaFay: Bingo. Exactly. Event updates. It'll put your profile image there because it's your link. You can update that paragraph, which is this page blurb right there, and then the color and then you can also update the color and Then you choose the type of person that you are. So you're an agency owner, director, strategist. Keep me in the lockdown so we can then eat more easily. Feel like if we're wanting to only talk to agency people for something, we can filter the list a lot easier.

Like if you and I are working in like a Google Doc, Google has like cross directional stuff happening. The good thing is it's only a save button. So like the check in button, all it's doing is just saying go to the database and change the zero to a one.
Mickey Mellen: Right.
Chris LaFay: So it shouldn't matter.
Mickey Mellen: Yeah, I wouldn't think it matter. The only thing that may happen is if it doesn't reflect that change back up under the other ones right away. But that's. Yeah, like for the conference, that won't matter. We'll just have one person sit at the table, so.

Chris LaFay: So like if we have. If we give that check in sheet to like two or three people, that would be awesome. What I would love to do. I'm not going to do this yet, but I would love to have photos next to all these people.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, I will. Let me. Event management, blah, blah. We need the ability to upload images to people's cards. So we did this specifically for users already. So we just need to duplicate that functionality but on a per person basis. Use the exact same structure that you built before. I don't type anymore.

Chris LaFay: Also, the. There is the ability to add multiple email addresses now.
Mickey Mellen: I saw that. Yeah, I saw it with Paige Morrison slash Dickinson. She was in there twice. You have a merge feature too?

Chris LaFay: I knew that the merge. So I didn't. I did not realize that the merge feature was here. I knew that it was built in code, meaning that like when you hit like a create user endpoint, it would check for things and then surface an error or not an error, but a note. And so when I went into this today and I saw this, I'm like, oh, that's cool. Yeah.
Mickey Mellen: So I page twice. I went into. I wanted to open both to see which one I should delete. And then like I was like, oh, merge, sure, let's try that.

I actually went back through my emails that I sent for some of these events and found people that I invited, but they said no. So that the like dates are relatively accurate. I didn't like deep dive.
Mickey Mellen: Right. But you can see like the, the Brighter web conference. Yeah. I put in all the people I invited, you know, which is a lot of bodies in there. Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Which is fantastic. And I'm gonna. I have a. I have a depth for this like the tags thing. My database that I have has all my people organized like this. So I'm gonna go through and just have it go and edit all my people and be like, here are the tags. Did this work, by the way? Hey, there it is right there. Boom.

Saved it to the system, put it into my calendar. And then I realized I needed to go back into the event because I didn't put any of the information in before it created it because that's dumb.

Chris LaFay: So, yeah, so it automatic. As the CO Host, you're it. So it creates it from my calendar and then the co host is automatically added.
Mickey Mellen: Gotcha. Okay. So I'm added because I'm a co host, not because of the roster. If I add someone to the roster, how do they get a calendar invite?
Chris LaFay: They don't. The roster is just. It's your, it's your, it's your lineup card. So it's like I'm gonna add people to the roster. And then you then send them out an email that says, hey, here's the link to rsvp. Click the buttons, and then they automatically get added to the event. Just like you automatically got added to the topgolf event.
Mickey Mellen: Gotcha. So I should not ever say they are. They told me they're coming. I should have them go click the thing to say they're coming because that'll add them to it. Okay, cool.
Chris LaFay: Yes.
Mickey Mellen: There.
Chris LaFay: I don't think there is a way for us to. Well, actually there is a way. So I take that back. I think I've not tested this yet. But in the, in the back end of a single event, there's a. But like once you connect the calendar invite to this, to the that, when you connect the Google Calendar invite to the event that we built out, there's a button that says sync yes, RSVPs. So I think if you manually add a yes and then you push the sync button, it'll put them all into the calendar invite. Have not tested that.
Mickey Mellen: But I like if it's just if the process is to have them rcv like, cool, you can make it sweet. Please go click this and fill it out. Yeah, yeah.
Chris LaFay: And I actually. What I. What I'm going. One of the things I'm going to do next is I think I can actually create a hot link that the hot link automatically fills in their first name, last name, and their email address. Automatically. That's done. So all they have to do is click rsvp. Now, I think I can also create hot links that will basically mark that person as a yes, no, or a maybe automatically. So in the email that you send them, you could say, hey, if you can join us, just click this button and you don't have to do anything else. It'll just say yes.

So if I select 11:30am as the start time, it's putting it at around 7:30am it's probably some sort of a time zone issue with the server. So make sure that we're saving time, start times and end times and eastern time so that we don't have that issue anymore.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Yeah. So. So two things now before we go to the next one. So the lunch club, the first one we just did, you put a capacity of six, but that's not a capacity of six, Right.

So all the paragraphs are all bumped up against each other. Make sure that the formatting that's being sent to Google Calendar is formatted well. So bulleted lists work and actual paragraphs work. I've noticed that the descriptions are all like mushy together and that annoys the crap out of me. All right, so we have that there. Let's go ahead and create the invite for lunch Club. There it is. Nice and fast. This is nuts that this is like working is like that.

Chris LaFay: Oh yeah, okay, that's. I got. Yeah. So how do I want that to work? We need to have a. We need to have a reservations made like toggle switch. And then we also probably should have like a total cost as well, just so that we know. Okay, under this is for the single event, we'll need to add a couple of other extra data fields. Under the details section, we need to add two. One of them is a numbers field that we can place in how much the event actually cost us as host to put on and then the second field should be a yes no dropdown on whether or not a reservation has been made. Also another option within the reservation made dropdown menu should be not necessary because some will not need it.
Mickey Mellen: You don't think a narrative square market has like cafeteria style seating?
Chris LaFay: Yeah.
Mickey Mellen: We still should reach out and see if we're able. If we could get there early. Like if they let us put placards along a section of table to like reserve it or if it's. Yeah, it gets pretty full too. So. Yeah.

What I'm going to do is I'm going to have it be able to put variables in there and then I'm going to actually create a template so that if you choose Six Top, the name will automatically put lunch with marketing folks and then in parentheses the name of the location. And when you choose six Top, it'll just automatically. I'm going to probably put event type and bring it all the way up to the top of the form. You choose that and then everything kind of trickles from that.

Start it with the same size photos. What you have for the owner, that's on the far right hand column. But I actually want you to decrease that size by about 20%. The second task is this page of people. Given that it's loading, every single one of them is getting relatively long. Can we lazy load the content that's inside of this table?
Mickey Mellen: Cool. Then had a few other thoughts. I like, we're doing basically six months of planning here. I think we should do this same meeting once a quarter to cover like the next six months. So the three is already planning in the kick the next three out. So.

Specifically on the roster table, I need to add a column to the left of Invited called assigned. And the width of that should be a very tight width. And the contents of that column should be a listing of all the different users that are in the system. And the only thing that should show is their avatar. And we're basically using this as a way to assign who is going to be the one to do the reach outs. And the way that I want this to work is I just want the photo to show. I don't want name or anything like that to happen. And every time you The. The default value of this field of assignment should be whoever the actual owner of that contact is. However, when we're in this roster view for that assigned field, if you click the. The photo, it's going to rotate through all the different People, this works primarily because we are only going to have two people in the system. So let's say that the owner is initially Mickey. Mickey's face will show up. If it's clicked once, it will go to Chris and it's clicked a third time, it'll go to empty, meaning nobody is taking it. And then that just cycles through the whole time. And that should then save to the database for that particular contacts row specifically to that one event. And I don't know if we have a data, a place to store that data yet, but I do think we have some sort of a join table between the event and the contacts to get them all together. Probably seem to add an extra field for assignee there.

Chris LaFay: So now we can have the same email draft for each different event type. That's default that we don't have to access. Oh, we forgot to update the location.

We just built an app in like 48 hours and started using it and I've imported like 70 pages of website content today. And I finished designing a website and like five other things. I've received like seven emails about like nickel and dime stupid website edits that I knocked all those out today as well, too.

But yeah, I think it should be a, an open email and we could probably automate that in here somehow and you know, we should probably add as a maybe is it'd be nice to give everyone's LinkedIn profiles out as well. I bet we could build an automated email in here. Again, automated draft. Not an email that goes out. But yeah, just a generic thank you email that. Thanks all for attending the thing yesterday. And I want to add a new, a new field to a person and I would like it to be placed in the, the table of details underneath email and above phone number. And I want that to be a LinkedIn URL. And I want you to make sure when you validate the URL that it has like the full LinkedIn URL so it includes the HTTPs in it. So make sure you put that part in the placeholder. Yeah, that's actually all I needed to do.

Chris LaFay: So what I'm thinking about doing is creating another section on here called email. So descriptions will be the RSVP and events and then another section called emails and there will be the email draft for the RSVP or the like the invited email draft, which is what this will be.

Chris LaFay: And then on the right hand side will be the thank you email draft. There will be another token that I create called guest list and it'll literally just output a bulleted list of name dash email and then in parentheses LinkedIn if it exists. Yeah, the system. And then the, the email body. Like the whole like hey everybody, thanks for coming. This is blah, blah, blah. And then there would be a copy button for this.
Mickey Mellen: Yep.
Chris LaFay: And then you go down here and then you would just say all the people that actually attended. Yes. And then copy those emails and then you'd paste them into your energy.
Mickey Mellen: That yes isn't for attended. That yes is that they said yes. Right?
Chris LaFay: No, so that's RSVP is they said yes. Attended is the checkbox that they actually.

I know you like to save vertical space, which I agree with. I'd like to take some horizontal space too. I'd like to be able to see the LinkedIn in here, at least for a while. So I know. So I can just edit a LinkedIn in line, but that's gonna add another column. So maybe stack email, LinkedIn or organization. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: That's why I like having the inline email tells them to go through this view and add in all the email address. I have to go in and out, in and out, in and out, you know, lacking them.
Chris LaFay: Rather than showing the. The LinkedIn URL, what if we had a column for LinkedIn?

Chris LaFay: And the output of it was LinkedIn with a little arrow to go up, like external linking. But if you hovered over it and you clicked Edit, that's a bad one. It would then create. It would show you the text field with the LinkedIn URL. So you just paste it in and.
Mickey Mellen: Be done with it. That's fine. Or a little modal or something. Yeah, just something. So I know whether they have LinkedIn or not. And then I can start working my way through adding a bunch of them. So. Yeah, cool. That works. Yeah.
