So at the airport yesterday, and I go to the restroom, and in the restroom there is this, like, acrylic wall thing. And I was like, oh, that's for me to put my bag in. And then I look at what it's called, and it's called the pouch. And on it is a picture of a kangaroo with a little joey coming out of its pouch. So I immediately think, is that for a baby? And then I look at it and there's a picture at the top that says not for children. And I thought, well, then why would you put a picture of a baby kangaroo on this thing and call it the pouch? Anyway, I felt gaslit by it, and so I was trying to find a picture of it to send to people, and I'd opened that up on my computer and then completely forgotten about it.

Chris LaFay: No, I have not, but I'm looking at them right now. Let me see here.

Dawn Audano: I said it looks like all content and no functionality changes. Is that true, or are there any functionality requests that I'm just not seeing?

State Election Board: When you. When you say functionality, are you talking about adding a function?

Dawn Audano: Yeah, I'm. I'm saying that as you were going through the site, you didn't see anything that. That looked broken or that looked like it didn't behave the way you thought it would?

State Election Board: No, no, ma'. Am. I. One of the things that I think we wanted to do is add, like, a. Like for the open records. IDA has to move, remove all the contact information, and there'll be just a link. There'll be a button for them to hit. Okay. To complete the Open Records request form.

Dawn Audano: And I'm not sure. Chris, did you compare. I think this was all before we discussed, like, the design. The design constraints of the website. I didn't know if we needed to review any of that as well.

Chris LaFay: Were those the. About, like, the. The layouts from the screenshots and whatnot?

Dawn Audano: Yes, this is.

Chris LaFay: Those are all taken care of. Yes.

Dawn Audano: Cool. So I'm going to check that piece off as well.

Chris LaFay: Yes. I just glanced through all of the tickets, and there was about 20 of them or so. I didn't see anything in here that was problematic. So that's great. We'll be able to. We'll be able to go through a lot of these with relatively quickly. So with all that being said, if these things are done. So the kind of. The next step here is we'll go through all of these in one fell swoop and knock all them out. We'll also go ahead and import all of the meetings as well that are in existence on the current site. We'll go ahead and run a tool on the current site that actually grabs all that information and plugs it all in. I think looking at these tickets, the. The biggest thing that I think is missing from. And I'm going off my memory from our meeting last week is we'll need those postings for the home page.

State Election Board: So I did change the home page, the verbiage for like, How I wanted the tabs to be laid out. We added some more tabs at the top. What we wanted on like for the. Let me pull it up. Okay.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, so I do see the. The new links at the top. I see that ticket. The one that I'm referring to is underneath news and announcements. Those are those three postings that.

State Election Board: Okay, no, those we have not updated. Okay, yeah, we haven't updated those yet. This is not a. We haven't said that everything is fully updated. We're just kind of wanted to see if y' all could update this, send us that. We can kind of get an idea of how those are looking to kind of go on. We're working on the other things, like about us. I'm working on the complaint process. I'm almost completed with that. We're also working on the rules and petitions. Hope is working on that. Those have to be specific by legal bindings. So we're just kind of making sure that those are all legally correct. And so that's what we're working on right now too, as well. So we'll have those. That information to you this week as well.

These changes that are already in, and then the content that you're going to be supplying by the end of the week, all of that grouped together should get us to a 90 to 95% website. That's. Y' all sent in an email that had a list of new staff members or updated information about staff members. And in that list, you included the physical address for every single person, which is exactly the same, and that is also farther down on the page. So when these get imported, we're not going to include the address just because that's duplicative and not necessary.

State Election Board: Also wanted to let you know that for the agency staff, we're just gonna have. It's just gonna be. I don't know if Hope sent this to you, because she's working on. It's just gonna be James Hope and myself. So only three people will be on there.

State Election Board: It was done by legal advice that we have a lot of investigators looking at the SOS website, the least amount of people they can try to get personal contact with with our open records department and complaints that getting in touch with investigators. We want to keep that streamlined so that we have a little bit of control so they can do their job. So they'll have to come through us three, and we'll disperse as necessary. But it just. It's just for their safety and security as well. But that's what we were advised.

Chris LaFay: Cool. That sounds good. I went ahead and just deleted those, So there's no confusion there when we run through it.

Sally Grubbs is a little bit different to put, like, when sworn in. And I Think Hope was sending that to y'. All. Did she send you the board members information yet?

So I just started sharing the board so that we can make sure that we are on the same page. Sherry said that she has like a handwritten or just another document with all of these notes as well. So I just wanted to make sure we got made sure that everything that should have been submitted actually ended up in our system. So that's where we are at the moment. So we just started with the add the word state to the election board. And now for this Dr. Johnson piece. Sherry was asking if this. You said this should be somewhere else on the site.

Hope Coan: Dr. Has retired from the board. The report appointed here. Oh, that's on the about us page. The board talking about the board members. That was saying remove Dr. Johnston from the board member page.

Dawn Audano: Okay.

Hope Coan: And Janelle King is now the vice chair. She's a current board member. So she's being changed from just being called a board member to vice chair. And her picture needs to be. Her information needs to be next to John Favier who's the chairman. So it'll be John Forveer, then Janelle King because she's the vice chair.

Dawn Audano: No, it's just content in Here, let me just look really quick. I haven't looked at the picture. Here it is. Okay. Yeah. So this is all the details.

Hope Coan: I wanted to find a way to add some kind of color to it.

Chris LaFay: We can maybe possibly make. Well, and in terms of colors, like right now, the. The circle is kind of the light blue with the icon being the darker blue. And then we have that bar that's up top. That's the tan color that goes against the. The background color. So what. What type of color are you thinking? Like, more like.

Hope Coan: Did Sherry talk to you about changing the color palette to. From stars and stripes to simply State House. Simply State House.

Chris LaFay: Simply. Yeah, we can definitely do that. That was not. I don't think I saw that in the tickets. It might. It could be. I did not read all of them.

Hope Coan: Okay.

Chris LaFay: But that is. Oh, actually, no, there it is. Update site color palette. Yes, that sounds good.

Hope Coan: Okay. So with that being said, that. So that color. That is behind the. So that's White. But then is that like a light gray that's behind.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, like a lot. Yeah.

Hope Coan: What if that has changed to like a. That sage green or something? Or either even a navy blue or what would that look like?

Chris LaFay: So the making the entire background of the entire site navy blue or just this section?

Hope Coan: Just this section. I don't know. Is it stuff that we can play around with once we get a hold of it?

Chris LaFay: Yeah. So the, the short answer is yes. You'll be able to swap particular colors in certain areas. Now, there are certain places where colors are locked down because that's what the design calls for within the design system that you guys have. But in general, there are plenty of areas where you will be able to swap the colors. Things along those lines.

Hope Coan: I mean, what would it look like if we changed it to where it's a little bit more of a contrast?

Chris LaFay: We can definitely add behind agency staff. We can definitely add a color bar behind that. That's definitely not a problem.

Hope Coan: Huh.

Chris LaFay: And that will, that will. That'll give that contrast there.

Hope Coan: Okay. All right.

Dawn Audano: So if we add that bar, you want to keep these icons or remove these icons or replace it with. I'm assuming this is the. What you're. What you'd like placed here? Is that what you guys were saying?

Hope Coan: No, I'd like to have the. Our agency seal.

Dawn Audano: Oh, oh, your agency.

Hope Coan: So it kind of looks like our business cards. On our business cards. We have our agency seal on them. And. And I think Sherry probably had already talked to you about making the agency seal larger. The same size as the state seal, I guess.

Chris LaFay: Yes. And that is. That is in the. That is in the system.

Hope Coan: Okay. So yeah, I mean, if we could have the agency seal, I would like to have each of us with an agency seal because. It would look more like our business card.

Chris LaFay: Okay, I'll see if we can swap it. I don't know if we can, but we do have a large list of icons that we can put as well too.

Hope Coan: I'll look at some icons in case we cannot swap it.

Chris LaFay: There's a library that's in the orchard system, right?

Chris LaFay: Yes, those are. So on the left hand side, there's a list of icons. Underneath the styles tab, there's probably about 50 to 70, give or take. And so that's all there for you.

Dawn Audano: Okay. Okay. This seems like a pretty straightforward edit. Changing out the Email down here at the bottom, add state in front of like, we've already talked about that as well.

State Election Board: Then. Okay, go back up to that. Go back up to that. So the context, we wanted to change that. That box. But if this is too much verbiage, at least do the first sentence and see how that looks. It might be too much verbiage with the rest of it.

Hope Coan: I'm going to go back real quick where you said you could add a bar under staff agency. Can you have it to where it will have. It'll be solid. And then it kind of fades out just to give a little bit of a design to it, which.

Chris LaFay: So where are we talking about?

Hope Coan: On the about staff page, you said that there's a bar right behind agency staff.

Chris LaFay: So there's that tan bar that goes across the top of each of those cards that I was referring to earlier.

Hope Coan: Oh. Oh, okay.

Dawn Audano: I thought you were saying, Chris, the whole background of this block could be navy blue.

Chris LaFay: It can. Yes. It can be navy blue. Yes.

Hope Coan: Can you have it where it's graduated?

Chris LaFay: So the Orchard system doesn't do gradients. They only do solid colors. And so they have a handful of solid colors that are. They actually have a good number of colors, but gradients are not in that mix.

Hope Coan: What. What? So everything's just solid?

Chris LaFay: Yes.

Hope Coan: Okay,.

State Election Board: So what about the. I know we talked about a little bit yesterday, and I know this is going into design, but there's like a small red bar that kind of divides everything. Is there anything that you could. That we could implement there that maybe that. I don't know what this would look like in there, but, you know, like, maybe to have the division to be like more of a bar for agency staff, the bar. You know, I'm saying like a different color for each or not different color for each one, but each one be a certain color. The same color, instead of having the. The red line or. What do you suggest about that?

Dawn Audano: You're talking about this divider right here, right?

State Election Board: Yeah. Yep.

Hope Coan: Yeah.

Dawn Audano: Okay.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Hope Coan: If you.

State Election Board: If you go up that. That's the only divider between every section.

Chris LaFay: Yes. So when we change the color palette, that color bar will probably change. I don't know exactly which color variable it's attached to, but whatever that. There is a color that is defined within orchard for that divider line that goes above heading. There's a specific heading tag. It's called heading two that it goes above I don't know what color that'll be before we actually swap the color palette over. Over. But that is a. That is a default set with an orchard. Is that. That set the thickness, the. The width as well as the spacing around it as well, too.

State Election Board: Okay. I guess I was thinking about like the word agency staff. Could that be a whole bar and division dividing it instead of with a color, instead of it being all instead of the dividing bars. What are your thoughts, Hope? Am I making sense to everybody or not?

Chris LaFay: I'm a little bit confused as. So what I heard was we. We want to have the bar, but we. But we want to have it in the same color. I'm a little bit. I'm a little bit confused. Try again.

So if you notice that there's like a short bar that headline that is kind of like a short bar that divides each section. If you go up. You know, I didn't know if instead of in replacing the bar, instead of when it says the duties of the state election board, that you had that to be a background color on that and that kind of dividing up each section and kind of. And so the line can be removed. There is an option within their system to actually have the line removed, like so. But having a background color behind that header is not one of those things. But that's where stuff like this comes into play, where when you have the. Like, this is a more. And actually, this is just a general, like, website user experience piece outside of Orchard, dividing up sections, not necessarily by a colored bar that's attached to the header, but actually grouping things together, like this colored bar here. That's how. That's a more standard practice of how we do that. So. Okay, this would be that.

State Election Board: That's a good division, too.

Chris LaFay: Exactly.

State Election Board: I was looking at the icons, and there's a Georgia Capital icon that might work.

And then I'm finishing up the complaint process. Hope is working on the. The rules. And then I think that I'm just going to look at the county election office just to see how that looks. I haven't even got to that page yet. We need to add some changes that Dr. Jan talked about with the titles and so forth. But those should be easy changes. I'll submit those today too.

Chris LaFay: One last note for me, one of the Tickets that you had was about the Facebook and YouTube links. Can you send us over the URLs for both of those?

Hope Coan: Sure, yes, sir.

Chris LaFay: Awesome. Wonderful.

State Election Board: So as, as we grow and we add more social media, is that something that we could input as well?

Chris LaFay: Okay, absolutely. Yeah. There's this whole. There's a section on the back end for that little footer area. Social media icons.

Hope Coan: How many. We have an act. Will we have access to the stock images or do we need to go ahead and kind select what we have now? Like, will we have access to the stock image page later?

Chris LaFay: The. So the stock images that the Don. I know you need to hop off. So if you want to hop off, I can wrap this up. The. In terms of the stock images that are in Dropbox that are provided by the state of Georgia and the Orchard system, those you'll have access to forever. In terms of the stock photography, the 123rf website, that is something that we have access to. And so if, if we're on retainer with you guys or something like that. Yes, absolutely. But in terms of going live, we'll need to go ahead and get any of those images ahead of going live.

Dawn Audano: Right.

Chris LaFay: So that y' all can be self sufficient.

Hope Coan: Okay. So I'm gonna look through some of those because I want, we want to add, we want to change the, that front Capitol page picture to a different picture of the Capitol. If we can find a better one. I don't like how it's like slanted and off centered and there's a plane flying, a background and a dead tree on the left.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. So when you, when you find one, if you want to submit another ticket, there's a place to add if it's an image that it's. Sorry, let me back up. Submit another ticket and in the content of it, just paste the URL of the image that you want to use, whether that's the Dropbox one that the state has already provided, or if it's something from 123rf, just paste the URL of that one image so we can then go download it and know exactly which one you're looking for.

Dawn Audano: Okay.

State Election Board: We started spreadsheet like I told you last week. We got images that we've been like just dropping in there as we look through them. So we'll, we'll, we'll get that clean between both of us and we'll have a good list going for you.

State Election Board: And then we can just, we can drop the, the list and Excel. An Excel sheet. Can we just drop that in there as a document?

Chris LaFay: What is the.

State Election Board: How would you like us to do that?

Chris LaFay: What is.

State Election Board: It has a stock number on there. It has a stock number.

Chris LaFay: Okay. And is it also talking about which, which images go to which page?

State Election Board: Well, this would be just. This would be for. This right here would just be for us to have for stock.

Chris LaFay: You just want to have, you just want to have some images downloaded. This, these are not specifically or going live with the website. Oh, gotcha. Okay. Yeah, then just send us over the Excel document. We can download them. We do have a limit of images or the plan that we have. We're allowed to download five images a day. So if you have more than, let's say, 20 or so, it's going to take about a week for us to get those downloaded. So just a heads up, that's just.

State Election Board: Okay.

Chris LaFay: We're on an old plan with them and so that's what we, that works.

Hope Coan: Okay.

State Election Board: Yes, sir.

Hope Coan: We'll, we'll, we'll go ahead and figure out which ones we want to change on the actual website and do the box. We will do a ticket with the box and then, you know, but maybe we'll go ahead and start with five today so that we can get the process rolling. Perfect.

Chris LaFay: That sounds good. So overall, what the timeline looks like, here is the. This week you'll have your content fully submitted. So all the blog posts, all the update, like if there's a new page that you want content for all of that sent over to us, send us over one email with anything that's new that doesn't fit into a ticket. So all that will be sent over by the end of the week. And then once we have all of that, we will then work next week on importing all of the meetings. The, all the flight, the, the meeting submission, the rules that are existing on the current website now import those into the new site and going through all the tickets that you've already submitted and all the new stuff that we're adding in and applying whatever imagery is appropriate in those locations. And that's what we'll spend our time on doing next week because we'll have all our hands on everything at that point. So next week we'll be busy. We might, depending on what questions we have, we might keep the meeting next week we might cancel it if we know if we have everything that we need. Need. The week after that is when we'll have the website ready to go. It should be at 90 to 95%. All the stuff should be in there. All the content changes that you submitted should be live at that point. And then really spending just that week letting you guys review and submitting any last tickets that are just small little nitpick type of things. And then right after that, we can then go live. That was going back to the conversation from last week. We'll need somebody to purchase a WP Engine account. So whoever is going to own the. The hosting on your side, getting that purchased within the next week or two would not be a bad idea.

Hope Coan: Just to go ahead and are you said that y'. All. Do y' all also do that?

Chris LaFay: We can. Yes, we can host for you guys. So that would all have to go through in serve360. So we can do that through Joel. I think you might have to go through with it. Yes.

State Election Board: Right.

Chris LaFay: And then if there's any other type of maintenance and stuff like that that you would want as well too, if you would like help actually managing the site, we have plans for that as well.

Hope Coan: Okay. Yeah. I sent out an email last week to Rob Sullivan with CWD asking about the hosting, and I've not got a response back, but I'll reach back out to him.
