Mickey Mellen: Yo.

Chris LaFay: Good morning.

Mickey Mellen: Morning. Where are you?

Chris LaFay: Where am I? Where am I? I don't know. Actually. I was supposed to have a sales call today and then that I moved that to Friday because I didn't have enough information. I was like, I'm blaming it on the fact that one of my guys, his computer crashed yesterday and I needed him to look at stuff with me today, which is all true.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Could I have done it without it? Without his knowledge?

Mickey Mellen: Yes.

Chris LaFay: But when you're pitching a sixty thousand, seventy thousand dollar Shopify website, you probably should have all your ducks in a room.

Mickey Mellen: There you go. Boom.

Chris LaFay: Look at that.

Mickey Mellen: Wow. Man, my hair is a mess too. All right, share your screen.

Chris LaFay: Yes.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. The empty browser.

Chris LaFay: Okay, hold on. This, do this and this and this. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: I spent a lot of hours since we last saw each other in Lovable, so the first time I show you, it will spend like 20 seconds on just because it's funny. Dunder espanol.com.

Chris LaFay: Oh, my gosh.

Mickey Mellen: I wanted to find better ways to learn Spanish. So it's a Spanish learning app that only uses stuff from the office. So. But that's not why we're here. You can look at it someplace, but yeah. Oh, you gotta. You can sign up and stuff. So. Yeah, I'm still playing with it though. I'm not sharing that with anyone yet. The logic's still a little weird and how it does it. But yeah, the other way. I do want to start sharing though, but I want to see you play with it first and make sure I'm not missing. So. Ripple recall.com. This is Mickey's anky. Oh, it has some cool things. So start studying. Go ahead and, go ahead and do that. And like, yeah, connect your account.

Chris LaFay: Now. You gotta have my email address.

Mickey Mellen: Yep. Boom.

Chris LaFay: Can we go on all your mailing lists now?

Mickey Mellen: Okay, so here's your cards. The cool thing is in the top, there's Discover. I made it easy to share decks and so I made a deck in there. There's a bunch. You may want to go down, scroll toward the bottom. Land gentle community. Subscribe to that deck. There's 38 cards there. So click on subscribe. There you go. And there you go. And that's it. And like, instead of all the anking, get a deck and load it on this. Like, study, like click. Yeah, hit study. There's. There's people, but yeah.

Chris LaFay: Oh, my God.

Mickey Mellen: Who's that?

Chris LaFay: That's Tim Visconti.

Mickey Mellen: All right, so yeah, it was easy. So. And there's keyboard shortcuts. 1, 2, 3, 4. So that's easy.

Chris LaFay: So what is Wait.

Mickey Mellen: So wait again means you got it wrong. The other mean you got it right. So hard. You got it right. But it was tough. Good. Like, yeah, I got it easy. He's like, yeah, all day. And that affects how far it kicks it out for the future.

Chris LaFay: So I would. I would relabel this as wrong.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, it's a good idea. Okay, cool.

Chris LaFay: And I would. I would almost put like some sort of a divider here.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: And I would actually. Actually. So.

Mickey Mellen: But hard. We'll show it to you again in most cases too. So it is kind of soft on purpose. Like you look at the slight numbers underneath each one. It's showing you again. It's going to show you a minute. Hard's going to show you in 5 minutes. Goods in a day. So like if you do hard, it's going to be, you know. No, it was that.

Chris LaFay: Oh, okay. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know her.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Oh, that was. She was at topgolf from.

Mickey Mellen: Yep. You should know all these in theory.

Chris LaFay: She's Toolbox nine.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. There you go. That's half of it.

Chris LaFay: Freaking heck. I had coffee with her too. It's not Rachel. Her last name changed. It was Dickinson and now it's something else.

Mickey Mellen: I think it is now Dickinson. I have her old name in here.

Chris LaFay: So. Yeah, it's not Molly. Freaking heck. Dang it. Paige Morrison. Dang. Okay, there you go. Yeah. Mr. Salesman. Richard.

Mickey Mellen: Yep. There you go.

Chris LaFay: Moira. Oh, wow. This is gonna like.

Mickey Mellen: You gotta get it right at least once to kick it off another day.

Chris LaFay: Oh, okay. Paige Morrison. Got it. That's guy. Oh, that was the guy in the back right hand corner. That's.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Kevin.

Mickey Mellen: Nope.

Chris LaFay: Jim. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: And that's it. So yeah, there you go. And one more.

Chris LaFay: Oh, so. Okay, so I. I pushed two.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. So you gotta. You gotta say at least it's good at this. But you got it good now. You know it now. Pretty good.

Chris LaFay: So that. So that. So that's another ui. Like if. I think those buttons need to be.

Mickey Mellen: Clearer because Copied those from Anki word for word. But yeah, I could. I could see some work there to clear them up. Yeah. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: So now you could if you wanted to because it only shows you five of the cards. Because by default in your settings, it only shows five new cards per day. So you can study ahead with more new cards or review some of the other cards.

Chris LaFay: Okay. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: But like going to the. Yeah. And the leaderboard.

Chris LaFay: Nice. Nice.

Mickey Mellen: And stats are like your stats.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: But go back and like discover like you. There's like the pro sports teams 1. You should be able to do good with that one or NATO Alphabet or one of those. Subscribe to it.

Chris LaFay: But yeah, interesting.

Mickey Mellen: But of course, most of this, you should be making your own decks. You know, you should go to decks, add a new deck for yourself, for the things you want that, you know, I didn't share all my decks in here, but yeah.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. Sometimes it shows the city, sometimes it shows the team. You have to say the city. Sometimes it shows the logo, you know.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. And so if you add this in. Oops, sorry, Let me go back. Hold on.

Mickey Mellen: I'm sure what happens if you just study without adding. Yeah, you didn't add it. You were just playing.

Chris LaFay: I didn't add it. Yeah. Okay, so if I go here. Oh, you have to subscribe to it.

Mickey Mellen: Right.

Chris LaFay: Okay. I might call this preview.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. At that point. Well, yeah, I almost. I'm. I don't want them to be able to study if they don't subscribe. So. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Or just. Or just drop it completely. Right. I'm not a. This is, this is an opinion. I don't know if this way everybody else would feel I would. I would call this, like. This should be your primary action. So this should be the orange color.

Mickey Mellen: Agree. Yes.

Chris LaFay: I think that the.

Mickey Mellen: He's like orange.

Chris LaFay: I do. You're using it right there. Right there. I think this should be add deck.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, I agree. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: And I think that you should like, because I'm. What I'm assuming is that people. Let's say that somebody adds. You're the owner. Your Mick Mill account is the owner of this deck. Deck, right?

Mickey Mellen: Correct. You can't edit it.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, I can't edit it, but let's say you added more sports teams.

Mickey Mellen: They show up in there. Correct. They'll show up in your deck automatically. Yeah, I did add a thing I've not played with yet. I'm going to try it now that you're on the system. Let's see here. Because I thought like for that Atlanta marketing folks one, like, it'd be nice if you could. If I could give you permission to add folks to it.

Chris LaFay: Oh, yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Let's see.

Chris LaFay: Did you just deploy code like five seconds ago?

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, so I just added use an admin to it, so.

Chris LaFay: Oh, hey, there we go. Yeah, look at that.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. So now you should be able to like. Is there like ad card at the top?

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Okay. So yeah, add card.

Mickey Mellen: The ad card. Then you can just like drag in a Picture and then type in the answer and so close. Is it. That's a different kind of card.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Are you familiar with clothes cards?

Chris LaFay: I mean, I'm making an assumption that it's. It's a fill in the blank basically.

Mickey Mellen: Right. You can do multiple fill in the blanks, which is kind of cool.

Chris LaFay: Oh, interesting. That's cool.

Mickey Mellen: I can do a C1 and then a C2. And sometimes it'll show one, sometimes the other. Like, I'll do a book. I'll say for any book I want to say book title is the story cycle. Author is Robert Carnes and rep. Robert in one and the title in the other. Somebody will say it's Robert Carnes. What's his book? And somebody will say it's a story cycle who's the author? Without having to do separate cards for each one.

Chris LaFay: You know that. That's cool.

Mickey Mellen: You know that's really cool. It import thing I may get rid of. That's how I pulled in on my Anki decks that import aptf.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: To pull them all in. Because there's a lot.

Chris LaFay: I would. A row of. This is also a small UI thing. But like all these buttons in a major row, they all feel like they're equally as important. I would. I would honestly probably put the. The study button like up here because it's kind of the primary. Like if you're on.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: You just want to. Yeah, like that's the one thing. And then rather than having buttons down here, I almost would do almost like a. Like a single pill with like dividers. Like almost like text links, if you will. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: So that they're physically smaller and they're kind of all connected as like these are the administrative actions that you have.

Mickey Mellen: And I'll probably remove the import button. I think I'm gonna get rid of that because most people aren't going to use that. What's share do? I'm not even sure what share does there is that. Oh, just copy the link to it. Okay, I gotcha. All right.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: Because there's two kinds of sharing you can do. Like if you go to edit the deck, hit edit deck at the top. And I thought you'd have other options there. Huh. Okay. Weird. Never mind.

Chris LaFay: I would also let me go back over here. This uses up a lot of space.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. But you shouldn't be in there much. That's just if you need to go through and look at cards to edit things, you really should be just studying.

Chris LaFay: True. My recommendation would be a table format for this. Like because you don't need to see a full size image here. Yeah, I would do literally like a, like a, like a table with thumbnail with the image and then the, the text of it and then like whatever tag that it's. That it has.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: So that way you can very quickly see.

Mickey Mellen: And it does filter at the top too. So if you like. So you start typing. Sophie.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Or whatever. Yeah, that's dope.

Mickey Mellen: So that helps with that.

Chris LaFay: All types. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. But then in theory. So go back home again. So in theory, so you can go into like pro sports or digital and study that. But study all is. Is the main one. That's your main call to action. Like study. You have five cards due today. Now because.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, because I added a new. Because I added a deck.

Mickey Mellen: And then your settings, it's set to five new cards per deck per day, you know, but you could click Study all and it'll give you all your cards mixed together, which is better way to learn, you know, so you get like the Atlanta Braves and then you'll get Sophie and then.

Chris LaFay: You know, this word shared doesn't mean anything to me on this screen. I would drop it. The. I. I notice really small details.

Mickey Mellen: I know. That's good. Well, the reason that's there is it's telling you it's a deck, that it's not your deck, it's a deck you've shared in.

Chris LaFay: Is that what this icon also means too?

Mickey Mellen: I think so, yes.

Chris LaFay: So I would, I would, I would combine them. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Okay, cool. I like that. Yeah,.

Chris LaFay: I actually, I would, I might even. I might actually make. If there. If this is active, meaning that's what.

Mickey Mellen: You need to knock out every day. You could. You wake up in the morning and that's your number today.

Chris LaFay: You know, exactly. Like if this is active, meaning it's not a zero number. I would actually probably make this like this whole box orange.

Mickey Mellen: Ah, okay.

Chris LaFay: And then the study button just be white with orange text. And then once it's. Once you're done with it, this then become like the, the CTA then becomes like study to get ahead or study more.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Which is what that leads you to. But yeah, that's a good point. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: So, okay. That way like when you go to it on your phone, the first thing you see is this like bright orange banner with a number, basically.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, I like that.

Chris LaFay: Cool.

Mickey Mellen: And this is a good pwa. So if you load it, if you pull it up on your phone in the browser, you can add it, you know, as a, as an app on your phone. Otherwise, go to tags for a sec. I want to make sure I'm not. I've been playing with that. Okay, good. You shouldn't have any tags in yours. Good. I want to make sure.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: Studies takes you to start studying. So.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, Canucks.

Mickey Mellen: Stars.

Chris LaFay: Twin Minnesota Twins.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. It's a pretty easy one. All in the logo there.

Chris LaFay: New Orleans Saints. Watch out, there's a commander is not right.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, yeah. There you go. Boom. And then you have it set where different ways to study ahead. Because Anki makes out of pain. So you said he had with new cards, like. Yep. I'm gonna add. I'm gonna start knocking out the sports stuff. So I'm gonna study 10 more cards ahead or I want to review more to get. I'm going on vacation next week, so I want to knock out reviews for the next seven days. So I'm sort of ahead of the game a little bit, you know.

Chris LaFay: So again with button overload here. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: The reef. The refresh needs to go away too. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: I would say that your. You're all done. You reviewed five cards. Maybe like study a new batch. And then below that button, like that is the one button that's right there.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: And then below that kind of actually in this, like, text kind of style, you could then put. Because you also have a back button there too. You could put back. Review current cards kind of in like smaller. Because honestly, you're either going to go back or you're going to.

Mickey Mellen: Well, you're not reverting. Your cards are all done. So there are no. Are no more current cards.

Chris LaFay: Oh, what is. What is this then?

Mickey Mellen: Study ahead. So again, study head with new cards. Study head is saying it'll add. Like, you've added five cards from this deck and there's 200. So let me get 10 more new ones rolling. Study ahead. Review cards is like, you have cards due tomorrow from what you just did. You probably don't your case, actually, because you mark them all good, I think. But like, knock out some of tomorrow's reviews. Again, if you're going on vacation for a few days, you can say, let me knock out the next three days worth. Let me spend a half an hour and knock those out. So that way I don't have much school vacation. You know, I need to work on wording. So.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, that. That's confusing to me.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Yeah, I agree. Yes.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: All right. And then the other interesting thing let me share because I've already set this up, is the tags. This is another thing that Anki does very poorly And I could see us both using this. The tags can be kind of cool. So, so in tags you can set. You can tag any card. So when you go go into a card, whatever card you want, you can edit the card and add a tag for whatever you want. I've added a tag like for CEO roundtable. So they're in my people deck. I have a people deck of Thought it said somewhere 1900 cards.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Of all kind of people. And I gotta figure out some like, like Sarah Patterson. She's not Atlanta Attack. So I've been trying to figure out who goes in Atlanta one. I'm trying to make it where I figures. Like for you, me, Amy, Adam, it's a very select group of people that would use that deck. But anyhow. But I tagged some. So under tags then I can see, okay, CEO roundtable. I've tagged. Here's the people in my CEO roundtable board. But I can cram. There's a cram button. It's like right before that. Because they don't always come up the day you need them to. So you hit cram very quickly. All right, Sarah Winograd. And then it's just a get wrong or get it right. And so it's just going to keep cycling you through until you get them all right. It doesn't affect their timing or scheduling for other stuff. Like she might already be six months out on the schedule. But I'm going to cram this full deck so I could see us doing something like that. Tags are still, I think will remain unique per user, but it'd be kind of cool to as we're adding people into the next topgolf, you know, which will probably add them into the, you know, digital community deck anyhow. Yeah, it'd be cool to then set up a tag for that. Like, okay, it's the day of let me go cram one more time of the people coming tonight. Like, I have those 14 people tagged and I can cram real quick and get those.

Chris LaFay: So yeah, that's a really interesting idea actually. I like that the idea of this.

Mickey Mellen: Whole app is not to cram is that you get them in there and you learn the spaced repetition and all that. But I still cram. I still. Anky has ways to do you have to like set up a custom query and do all like. It's awful. So I'm like, let me just tag him. Just cram. And so yeah, it works out that.

Chris LaFay: Actually, that that's actually a great idea because you don't want to create a For people especially, you don't want to create the Their own deck for like one event and then have to then move when that event is over, then move that event into, like, your master.

Mickey Mellen: That's kind of what you have to do. Right?

Chris LaFay: And so, like, now you can just add them all in into the existing, like, the deck that you want them to be in, but then tag that. Yeah, I like.

Mickey Mellen: And tags should go across decks. I've not tried. It's supposed to. Let me try real quick. Like, if I were to tag her just to see. Oh, wait. Interesting. My tag should have preloaded my tag here. Why is it not doing that? Try this again. Maybe because tags are deck specific.

Chris LaFay: Huh?

Mickey Mellen: Okay, I have to play with that. But in theory, I can tag across decks and still get one summary of all of them.

Chris LaFay: Also, do you have to add an image tag? Can you just. You just can't upload an image.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, you can. It generates that for you. Yeah, you just drag it in. It creates it. I probably should have it do the preview with. With the. I don't know why it does that here. It should just show the images, but you just drag it in and it. It does that for you.

Chris LaFay: So this is another reason, like this whole editing and tagging thing. This is another reason to go to a table view on the editing.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, agreed. Yeah, I could see that.

Chris LaFay: Because then you would just have to click the tag icon and then you're done at that point.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. And I did already start adding that stuff in. So, like, in people here, if we go like Stephanie, you can see, like, it shows their tag in here now too.

Chris LaFay: Oh, nice. That's cool.

Mickey Mellen: Just to show you who's what. Yeah. Stephanie Richards. Or she should be. And so I can you also move so I can quickly move it to the digital marketing community. I'll put Stephanie Richards over there. So, yeah, so you move people between decks quick. And now, now that should be here. Stephanie Richards should be visible to you now because I put it in that deck that shared with you, you know, so. But part of this was like, yeah, after talking, like, with more folks about Anki, like, Anki's great. But like, you got to download it here and you got to buy it on iPhone. You got to set up an account. You got to get them syncing back and forth. You got to add cards on your desktop. You got to find them on LinkedIn. Like, I've got them all right here. Like, why can't I just, like, give it to you? And like, oh, there you go. Now you Can.

Chris LaFay: So now you can. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: So now you got it. You have no excuse. Now you've got. You've got all the. The digital marketing communities. I tricked you into it. You've got them all sitting there. You can study that whenever you want.

Chris LaFay: Just walked. This was like on my regular day. Just walk. And it's like, oh, look, there's a Mickey sized bump. Boink.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, no mixed bumps. Like, boing. It's like your mom. It's like I gave you a superpower. What do you mean bump? I see you like a magic mushroom.

Chris LaFay: Hey.

Mickey Mellen: Boom. Mario. You can't see him.

Chris LaFay: Oh, well, I did make the. I. I think I told you I made the. The B on the website. Do something. You might have found that, though.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, good. I didn't know that. Oh, crap.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Let's see.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, Go find it. Make sure the sound. Make sure the sound's on too.

Mickey Mellen: All right. He's at the bottom, right?

Chris LaFay: He's at the very bottom right now. Yeah. So there's more. And there's more animation to it. So apparently there might. You might have. Oh, yeah. Actually, yeah, you're. The bee's not even like moving up and down for you. Interesting. We have some reduced animation going on, huh?

Mickey Mellen: This is just chrome. I don't know what I would have.

Chris LaFay: Weird. Because normally. So the bead normally should. While it's going left and right, it should oscillate kind of up and down. Okay. And then it shouldn't be immediate. Buzzes to like. It zooms in and buzzes towards you and then it stings.

Mickey Mellen: You got to check out a different browser. I may have some setting in here from a long time ago. Who knows?

Chris LaFay: So, but anyway, I did that and actually, actually go back. Go back to the site.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, yeah.

Chris LaFay: I don't know if I published it yet. Scroll to the very bottom.

Mickey Mellen: The footer.

Chris LaFay: Go. Okay. I might not have linked it yet. Try going to the. Go to the address bar and do slash change log. One word I might not have deployed. It might be on staging right now. Look at that.

Mickey Mellen: There. There's the nice. Sweet.

Chris LaFay: Nobody. I realize, like, nobody's ever gonna like, go and be like, look at all of this. But it's a freaking video game. You have to have a change log.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, yeah. And so I Google change logs, like every day for different things. Mostly for when I'm looking to see if a website needs maintenance help. I can look in the code that other. On Yoast 26.2. I can't remember what version is, so I type In Yoast Changelog just to see what the latest version is like, it's the easiest way to see the latest version of a. A plugin.

Chris LaFay: So, yeah, reads a JSON that. All those blocks right there, it's a custom ACF block. It reads a JSON file. So every time I'm done with something new, I'll tell Claude code, log this as a patch and whatever the next version is going to be. So there's a JSON file log so that whenever that log gets pushed from staging to production, it adds a new version. And whenever the version number doesn't have a decimal, it does that little orange border with the star.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, man. Wow, huh? Yeah, Quite that fancy. I. I do, I do. I have started doing change or not change logs, but at least versions in the apps I build in levels. That way I can tell like, oh, you need hard refresh, Chris, because you're still on the old one. That's the only way to really tell.

Chris LaFay: But yeah, I'm gonna, I will. In the footer of the website, I will put the version number eventually just because it's fun. Like if you do scroll there and you're like, wait, what does this mean that it's version 1.2 of a marketing company's website. What?

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Y. That would be interesting. Yes.

Chris LaFay: People, if you saw it, it would. It would register in your head as like, that's weird, that's different.

Mickey Mellen: So it's when you're editing a deck you own though, you can say it defaults to private, but you can share it with link or list in the discover tab. And so yeah, you can see most of mine I've listed like the quotes one I didn't because it's just a bunch of crap. And then what else? Green Mountain Talking points. Just trying to remember some of our one liners and stuff. Some. Some closed tags in here. We believe the Internet should be a place where brands can earn trust and grow with integrity. You know, just so different. Different closed tags to make all that, you know, not meant it's just a handful of them, but yeah, so I didn't share that one either, but I imported all that.

Chris LaFay: If anybody ever asks you what your. Your. Your header, one tag on your homepage says, you know.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, there you go. That's. I don't think it's in there, but it should be.

Chris LaFay: Should be.

Mickey Mellen: So there you go. So, yes, you need to go through today and go to Digital Learning Community and study more and like study ahead and like get all the new ones in there. Get all 30s. That way. It's cycling every day for you.

Chris LaFay: Did you put all the lunch people in there too?

Mickey Mellen: I think so, yeah. I mean, I put. I think I put basically the lunch people and the topgolf people and then a few other random folks. Aaliyah, Lydia, Ali just went out and speakers for last year in this year's conference. So Tim. Yeah, me, I've never been in it. So I put myself. I figured I should be in there. Tyler, I added. He came. Amy Judd, Trey came to both. Ken Williams. I don't think it's come, but he's a good dude. I think you know Ken, don't you?

Chris LaFay: He doesn't look familiar.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. D team Isham Colisetti's coming to some meetups. J.C. jim. Jeff Hillemire spoke. Ashley came. Heather Johnson. You know her? No, I don't think he should probably Sarah golden. She was.

Chris LaFay: Hey, that's Kevin.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, from yesterday. Kevin from yesterday. Graham from yesterday. Sophie.

Chris LaFay: Greg's Amy's friend, by the way. Just for connection.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, yeah, I could tell. Yeah, they were. They seem to know each other pretty well. Daniel added. David Leggett from Black Airplane. Mary Obd speaking at the conference. That old picture in here, I'm like, if I'm gonna share it, I better get an updated picture. So I grabbed the one off your LinkedIn.

Chris LaFay: What photo did you have? I'm. Do you remember?

Mickey Mellen: It was an old one. You were like, I don't even know.

Chris LaFay: I wonder was it in my like gray suit and like with a lot of green in the background?

Mickey Mellen: That's like a close up. Yeah. You look very intense. Like.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, interesting.

Mickey Mellen: I wonder if I can find it. Let's see. I don't know if I can find in here because Anki only shows the code. If I can find. I'll let you know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So Jason Rhodes, Stephanie Richards was added. Katie Wagner, Paige Morrison, Blake Howard out of Brandon Schultz, Michael Caldwell, Moira through an Aaron Ryman. Bobby threw an Adam Chantel Plumbers Plumber speaking conference. And Richard Sims. So certainly more we can add. And that's why I'm like, well, Chris can just tell me more to add and I'll add him in. Like, no, I can. Let me allow him to add his own.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, you can make him do it. Actually pull his own dagum freaking weight. Thank you for sending that email to the speakers, by the way.

Mickey Mellen: Sure.

Chris LaFay: I designed out the. The template card. I got it almost done. And I was like, let me go grab Tim Visconti's photo and it was like 400 pixels. I'm like, oh yeah.

Mickey Mellen: I was like, right. That's basically the full size right there. Yeah. Which works for this. I even have it. If you upload a photo here, it crunches it way down just to. Because that was one thing I struggled with. Because Anki of course is all local.

Chris LaFay: So it doesn't matter.

Mickey Mellen: So. Well, so it's local but. Well, it kind of matters. It still has to transfer, but it's fast. And so here it was like, okay, I'm gonna do the study session has all these pictures. So it's like loading, loading, loading. Like well, no, no, just. But I don't want to just load one at a time. So when you say yes, then he has to like load in the next one. So I say load the first one and then start loading the rest behind the scenes as it goes.

Chris LaFay: Like basically like it lazy loads effectively.

Mickey Mellen: Essentially. Yeah, essentially lazy loads. It seems to work pretty well. So. Yeah. But I still want to have it those pictures as small as possible. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Random question for you. So I was talking to. I'm. I'm going to make a hard right hand turn.

Mickey Mellen: All right, cool.

Chris LaFay: Conversation topic. This is not fleshed out yet at all. So I want your initial like gut reaction. Thought I was talking to Trey Bowden. I met obviously I met him at topgolf and he's like absolutely loving all the events that are happening right now. And he was.

Mickey Mellen: He's been coming to all of them too. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Which has been. Which has been fantastic. He's a great dude. I. I really like him.

Mickey Mellen: Good.

Chris LaFay: He also co owns Oppo Coffee down the road indicator and so also they have a large space, by the way.

Mickey Mellen: All right.

Chris LaFay: Nice event location. They also do coffee classes. So he's like if you ever wanted to get like if a group of people wanted to just come and like do something completely different and like learn how to like legit make coffee and do like latte art and stuff like that. Like we could totally make that happen. Anyway, I digress. He. You're obviously familiar with 48 and 48 Adam.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, a little bit.

Chris LaFay: His thought of what he wanted to do was he does a little bit of branding and messaging but also videography as well. He wanted to do basically a. A one day thing where folks can come in basically get their branding and messaging, all that kind of stuff figured out. Nonprofit, small businesses, etc. I was like, that's a cool idea.

Mickey Mellen: Y.

Chris LaFay: Daniel Sigona, who was on your side of the table, big bearded guy. He has a space that he can use for free this year and wants to use it with me. And it will fit. I, I don't know what the space is, but it can fit up to 100 people seated. Not suggesting we need 100 people to attend this thing.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. But nice.

Chris LaFay: So this is my thought. So that's all the context, okay, is Content Day is obviously a hit that's always been very well received. And I know a lot of agency folks that are really good at distilling down what they do into a small deliverable relatively quickly because we're all smart humans. My thinking was, what if we took the concept of Content Day and expanded it immensely. So I'm gonna use a few people that we all know just to make the idea simple. So we have this 100 person room, which that means we could probably put about seven, maybe six or seven, I'm gonna call them booths around the edges.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: One of them would be the shock social people to do video, like Content Day kind of stuff.

Mickey Mellen: Yep.

Chris LaFay: Another could be Amy Blum talking about ads. Another one of them could be JC Lund to talk about messaging. Another one could be Sophie Brannon to do a little bit of SEO. And basically we have these booths and the goal here is to get small business owner, medium business owners to come and spend a day working on their own stuff.

Mickey Mellen: So they'd be working one on one. They go to Amy's booth just to chat with Amy. She wouldn't be leading a little session. She'd be there just to just come pick my brain and.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, and there would be maybe office.

Mickey Mellen: Hours all around the. All around the room.

Chris LaFay: Exactly, exactly. So some of them would require some pre work like, so like for SEO, Sophie would probably need to run like an HRS report on their stuff ahead of time to be able to kind of get a general idea of what they're doing, etc. Etc. But basically everybody has. And this is not the right way to do it, but this is the starting point. Everybody, every booth that's there, they have from 9 to 5, they have eight 45 minute blocks that all start on the hour from 9 to 10, from 9 to 9:45, 10 to 10:45, rinse and repeat all throughout the day. So as an attendee, you can't necessarily go and be like, I'm gonna go do one of everybody. Because the goal, like you can't just go do everything.

Mickey Mellen: So when you book your time ahead.

Chris LaFay: Of time and you can book up to two or three different ones. So that way we a, we get more people to come in by not allowing like one person to go to all seven locations and then only meeting seven business owners. But each of them provide value in some way, shape or form. Just like Content Day video, you get the video. Something that we do for like a messaging workshop thing where there's one on one time. You get some sort of messaging direction or something. I want them to all be tangible. Like, you choose these three locations and you're gonna walk out with, yeah, okay. This thing done.

Mickey Mellen: So not like office hours, but I like it still. Yeah, Office hours. I think more like Amy's hanging out there. So if you have questions, two or three people might come up and she can kind of. Yeah, this is more. Let's talk about Chris.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, exactly. And so that's my thought for it. I talked with Trey about it today because Trey's idea was just branding and messaging.

Mickey Mellen: Right.

Chris LaFay: And doing like 48 and 48, but just like messaging and branding the whole nine yards and doing that. My thought was, if we have a space that could fit 100 people, could we put people in different set, like agency owners in different corners of the room, if you will.

Mickey Mellen: Right.

Chris LaFay: And let people wander around all day long. Now, some people might need 45 minute blocks. Like content day only needs 15 minutes, probably.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: So like, each of these people might actually have a different quantity of availability depending on what types of things they're doing. So that's my thought. What's your thoughts? Do you like that idea?

Mickey Mellen: Yes, for sure. Okay. This is the typical Chris Lefe. Here's a cool idea. Let me make it 10 times bigger, which is great. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Literally what I started with, Trey, when I was like, you told me idea like a month ago. And I was like, I have this thing where I am really good at taking somebody else's idea and 10xing it. Sometimes it's great, other times it's noise. And I'm like, I understand this about myself, but this is my. This is what I do.

Mickey Mellen: So I think I like your idea better. But I will go back to what I thought your idea was. I think you should consider. I think probably not do it, but where it's more just open. Like, here we are for the day. So there's Amy over there with this here, like, welcome. Glad you showed up, Susie. Here's what's going on. Go enjoy yourself. And she can go talk to Amy for a while. Go talk to Sophie about her SEO stuff. And if Sophie has two or three people, they can kind of listen. And she's talking because I get A lot of listening when someone else asks a question. Like, I would have never even thought about that question that Chris just asked. I'm just gonna sit back. Holy, that's an amazing question. Like, I never thought that, you know, so. But it also. Sophie could also see, wow, there's 19 people at Amy's thing, and Sophie has none, and she wants to see what's happened.

Chris LaFay: Like, so, yeah, there's a.

Mickey Mellen: There's downsides. That seems unlikely but possible, you know?

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: So. And I also worry, like, yeah. How much time do we need for each one? How do people schedule? And if someone doesn't show, then Amy's sitting on her hands for 45 minutes because she had someone scheduled here that didn't show.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: But again, I think I still tend to like your. Your way better, though. But I could argue both, because I.

Chris LaFay: People will know show no matter what. Like, that's just the right.

Mickey Mellen: And if. But if there's already 30 other people wandering around for the day, check out and talking to different folks, then a few no shows doesn't matter. Versus, well, I guess my 10 to 11 shot, I got nothing to do for an hour, you know. Yeah, but they're not gonna be prepared either. To your point. People are gonna come. Sophie. Say, Sophie, I'm talking about the SEO. She's like, great, what's your website? Let me pull it up. Like, yeah, should be going in raw, which. That can lead to interesting conversations as well. Like, more. More theoretical. Like, well, Google just changed the search box, and now it's all AI queries forever. So SEO is dead. That is insane what they're doing this week. But, yeah, but, like, those kind of conversations would be less about, like, why are you going for that keyword instead of the other one? Like, which may be more helpful. Yeah, but maybe she could say, yeah, if you want to talk about that, let me have this run report off to the side. In the meantime, let me talk to Randy that's here about his stuff, and then once your report's ready, we can dig into that. Like, there could be ways to juggle it. Maybe, but I don't know.

Chris LaFay: What would. What would. So what would you do? Would you want to be. Would you want to have a booth at something like this?

Mickey Mellen: In theory, but I'm not sure what it would be.

Chris LaFay: That was what I was thinking as well. So I'm like, this is right up your alley, and I actually think a lot of people that you work with might actually get value out of this too.

Mickey Mellen: My knowledge is super wide and super shallow, though. Like, I could do an SEO one, but Sophie could do better. I could do an AI one, but Tim would do better. I could do a web design one, but you would do better. Like, I could do any of them reasonably well, but there are individuals that could do all of them better. You know,.

Chris LaFay: It's a great feeling. That's how I feel about everything else in life other than web.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, that's how I feel. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: That's how I feel.

Mickey Mellen: Like, in high school, I was a better runner than 99 of people, but I could point out everyone that would beat my butt every time. Basketball. Like, I could beat almost anyone in the room in the game of basketball, but I was never the best, you know? Like, I'm never the best in anything. So.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Oh, man. My. And my best friend growing up, he was highly competitive. And when we were kids, he. He will tell you this. He has told me this over and over. Like, he was a jerk to me. Like, I'm still best friends with him. Like, I've been friends with him for 30 years. I talk to him every single week, text him so much. Really good friends. But he was like, dude, I'm amazed that you stuck it out hanging out with me because, like, he's like, I made you feel like crap on a regular basis. So people pleaser. But okay. Yeah. So this is something that'll probably be in, like, either August or November because October, September is tough with school stuff and things.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: At the end of September, October is yours. And we're probably going to end up double dipping on some of the types of people that might attend it.

Mickey Mellen: I would hope almost everyone would be that in both. Yeah, so.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, yeah, exactly. So that whole, like, kind of like middle October, middle September to middle October is out because of. Because of the conference. So it'll either be November or maybe like late August.

Mickey Mellen: It went to 21 registrations, too, for the conference, which is incredibly good at this point. So. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Did Trey Bowden say yes? Has Trey bought a ticket yet?

Mickey Mellen: I don't know. Let's see. Let me see. I haven't looked in a while to see because Bobby asked, like, if I signed up yet. I'm like, I don't know. It's a good question. I should know this. Yeah, I feel like maybe he did. But let's see. We've got Chris Le Fay was the first one. Brooke and Ashley signed up. They're going to come in for it. Molly Holm, who is on my CEO roundtable board. Joe Kaufman Caldwell signed up, but he's not coming. So if you bring Renee Dobbs, Robert Carnes, Ellie Green, Laura Beth Dolls, Jason Blumenthen, Visconti, and then Lori Urine, Javier Santana. Do you know Javier?

Chris LaFay: Yeah, he won my guys. Yeah. And he's gonna do the. He's doing the. The day before and after as well, too.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, good. Yeah, Yeah, I know Javier as well. Yeah. Oh, you know.

Chris LaFay: Okay.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, I met him a couple of Jason Rhodes dinner things he did a while ago.

Chris LaFay: That makes perfect sense.

Mickey Mellen: Andrea Villa Velez. Is that someone of yours?

Chris LaFay: Yeah, she. Okay, cool. She hosted the last content day with me and Kira.

Mickey Mellen: Gotcha. Okay, cool. Then Alex Radford, who I know, Chantelle Catania, and then three people. The three people that work for Robert are all coming in too.

Chris LaFay: I'm trying to get a guy from Wisconsin to come in.

Mickey Mellen: No Trey Bowden, no Bobby Kersher. Okay, so.

Chris LaFay: Because Trey told me he was interested in the Wednesday night and Friday. Hobbs interested in the Wednesday night and Friday. I also need to get the shock social guys there, but they need money first is what they need. And so we gotta figure out for.

Mickey Mellen: Sure we're gonna do Wednesday. Because another. I mean, the one problem I have with Punchbowl, and I think Punchbowl is probably still the way to go. It's just so loud. Like the bowling place we went, New York was loud. Punch Bowl's loud as hell. Like so hard to talk to people. But I think it's probably either that or you can rent the conference or the Chamber after hours so we could host that space. Like bring in dinner and do a trivia night or something. You know, like hook up the screen and, you know.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, okay.

Mickey Mellen: That might be easier. More. Well, I say more expensive. They're expensive either way. And we're renting a space and bringing dinner or renting out a whole thing at, you know.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, but.

Mickey Mellen: Especially playing with the brave.

Chris LaFay: Dude, what would it cost to rent out the Chamber for a couple hundred bucks?

Mickey Mellen: Not. Not a lot. Yeah. Oh, just for the evening after hours stuff. They're not much. I mean, out of 3, 400, something like that. I don't know. Yeah, 1500 for the day, but evening stuff's cheaper, so.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, it's only cost you 1500 bucks to rinse it out for the day. Yeah, dude, that's nuts.

Mickey Mellen: And then about 1500 more for food and then.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, dude, that's not bad. I didn't. I didn't realize it was that cheap.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Great facility. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Like when I. When I was looking before, I found like local Co like when I was doing my first content day and I didn't know, like, local co working space owners, like, renting out something at, like, Rome or something like that for the day. Rome, like a room. Like, not even like a space, but, like, a room was going to be multiple thousand of dollars. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, yeah. Rome is a ton. Yeah. Now that I'm thinking about, that could be. So we'll have to play Play by your. See how things go. I mean, I'm up for either, but that could be kind of cool just to rent that for the day. I could go ahead and set up some of the brighter web signage upstairs and have it ready. We could bring in, like, Moe's Catering or something. Find some cool trivia. You know, a Kahoot kind of app where everyone can just play on their cell phones and have a. I'm saying do a thousand different things. They have a trivia thing up there if you know. Yeah, something or. I mean, I want it to be more hanging around and talking. So I don't want people to get so involved with a game, but I want to be not just hanging around. It's nice to have that again. Like bowling and topgolf. I have the something you do a little bit of the time, but most of the time you chat, you know.

Chris LaFay: Is there a topgolf near there?

Mickey Mellen: No, not even close. Your. Yours is the closest. And again, I want to do something at the Battery for the sake of people coming in from out of town so they can get a hotel at the Battery and just.

Chris LaFay: That's it.

Mickey Mellen: They're not gonna take it. That's Uber nothing.

Chris LaFay: They're just there for getting that.

Mickey Mellen: We would have to, but I'd really like to. And again, I think between punch ball and that, I mean, we got. Those are two good ideas. And there's probably more, but it depends. Depends what the Braves do. Be part of it, too. If the Braves have a game there, we definitely do not want punch bowl because they probably. Yeah, well.

Chris LaFay: Oh, yeah. No, yeah.

Mickey Mellen: But the chamber still its own separate parking lot and all that, which is nice, even though it's, you know, right there. So.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, okay, so we'll play.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, but we'll figure. I'm not worried about that. We got five months. We'll figure out something. So. Yeah, but yeah, I kind of like that idea. And also, we'll make the morning of the conference easier so I can haul a bunch of my crap in the night before then and have it sitting there. You know,.

Chris LaFay: You just set it up the day before and just be done like.

Mickey Mellen: Right. Yeah, basically. Well, we'll want the room set up different for the evening, but that's true. We'll still. Still save you a lot of time of. Yeah. All the band setting up, the banners and all that crap.

Chris LaFay: So, yeah, I am planning on spending the night on that side of town, so just.

Mickey Mellen: Oh, cool. And crash here if you need. We got. We got a sweet, sweet guest room set up. So.

Chris LaFay: I now have three places because I got my buddy Andrew, who's been working with me for like 20 years. I was talking to. About to Robert on the way out and he was like, oh, you can stay at my place if you ever want to. And then you. I know.

Mickey Mellen: I got.

Chris LaFay: I got three people in Marietta that I can hang out. Yay.

Mickey Mellen: There you go. Nice.

Chris LaFay: I. I love. I very much enjoy doing that because I would rather not get a. If there's a guest room available, I would rather not get a hotel and obviously save a little money. But we want people to stay here so often.

Mickey Mellen: Our guest room is ridiculous. It has its own coffee maker, it's own mini fridge, little snack bar stuff set up. Like it's. Yeah. Because my wife has people coming in all the time staying here. So.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, it's just a nice excuse to like hang out and just do.

Mickey Mellen: Right.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, like just hang out without like a hard style. Hey, we're meeting at 2:30 and we're closing down by this time. It's like, no, we're like, I'm here. We're hanging out. Whenever we're want to go to bed, we just go to bed.

Mickey Mellen: Like it's like 10. So you'll have three hours by yourself still.

Chris LaFay: Which is true. Which is very true.

Mickey Mellen: Then we go work outside by side in the morning, not punch each other in our VR headsets.

Chris LaFay: Your requirement for me to spend the night at your house is to bring my headsets now.

Mickey Mellen: We don't have time in the morning though, so you. You lucked out. It worked. You worked out okay. So.

Chris LaFay: Hey. Oh my gosh, that's hysterical. Okay.

Mickey Mellen: All right, well, I've got a whole list of things to do now with that app, so I wrote down all the things you said, so you're welcome. Yeah, no, it's good stuff.

Chris LaFay: But yeah, send it back over to me when you. Or let me know when you've made updates. Do you want me to putz around with it some more and I can. I love poking holes in people's ideas.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. Cool. Nice.

Chris LaFay: Awesome.

Mickey Mellen: I want you. I'm gonna be Watching that leaderboard though. That streak should be going up as you. A lot of leaderboards there, so. I gotcha. All you gotta do is just. Yeah, it's just the one little deck you can skip. You can get rid of the pro sports if you want. You got one deck of 30 people. You got this and it's wildly valuable to you professionally. So. Yeah, you're welcome.

Chris LaFay: You're just going to start creating apps so that you can just like keep track of what I'm doing.

Mickey Mellen: That's a good idea.

Chris LaFay: Add on little layers.

Mickey Mellen: I'm sure your website was tracking me as I was clicking that stupid B, so.

Chris LaFay: Oh, it definitely was. But you haven't put your email address in, so you're just an anonymous number at this point, so.

Mickey Mellen: Okay, good. All right, sweet.

Chris LaFay: I am going to try to make. I am going to not.

Mickey Mellen: It's not an anonymous number anymore though, because. Ah. I know what time you click that. So now I know which anonymous cookie was his. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Oh, I did put the. I did put tracking in for the. The cute.

Mickey Mellen: The.

Chris LaFay: The cheat code stuff too. Oh, oh good.

Mickey Mellen: Thanks. All right, cool.

Chris LaFay: I put that in there as well.

Mickey Mellen: When I worked at the church, people knew how much I looked at Google Analytics and stuff. And so people on staff would search Google for things like Mickey is super weird mount bethel.org and then they click the link in Google knowing it would pass the parameter on and I'd see it in my report like a week later. I'm like, what is this keyword that came through to our site for mickeyisweirdmountmethel.org that was impressive that people thought to do that knowing that that click would eventually find its way back to my desk. That was back when keywords were in analytics. It was just right there for me. It was great.

Chris LaFay: That was impressive, dude. That's funny.

Mickey Mellen: The more useful one is I did track every search on the site too, and I would build custom results for things. If people search for vbs, I'm like, well, don't just spit out stuff like just redirect to the main VBS page, right?

Chris LaFay: Yeah, exactly. Common search terms just go straight to the page that everybody's going to.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, this was in 2007. So it was basically just a ton of if then statements as how I built it. So yeah, whole bunch of them. So.

Chris LaFay: Oh man, I'm gonna show you. I'm gonna show. Oh, it's actually on this. I'm not gonna show it to. Actually, I am going to show you this here really quick. And that'll be done. I'll shut up. So I was supposed to have my first meeting with Publicom. Oops.

Mickey Mellen: Today. Okay. Y.

Chris LaFay: So I've spent a lot of time creating, like, a core WordPress template with a lot of. It's not what Primo is, but it's a. The general concept of Primo, it's just a little bit more structured than Primo is. And so I spent two hours yesterday on this. Now, the photography is not correct, mind you. Like, the photography is not there.

Mickey Mellen: Nice. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Like,.

Mickey Mellen: It's crazy how fast we can do things. I mean, that app I just showed you, I thought of it yesterday afternoon and started it last night.

Chris LaFay: Like.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, it's just crazy how fast you can. I was just thinking today, like, if I had. If. If I had and no one else had lovable, like, 10 years ago, I would be. That'd be worth millions of dollars. Like, instantly. I could just turn all these SaaS apps and sell them for a bunch of money and like.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, right.

Mickey Mellen: And that's just like. Yeah, whatever. You made another app. Cool, right?

Chris LaFay: Exactly.

Mickey Mellen: That looks good, though. Yeah, I like that.

Chris LaFay: I'm really. I'm really happy with that. Like, that's well structured. I was going to show it to him. His kids graduate, like, fifth grade. Graduation was this morning, so we had to move next week. But meeting number one is going to be. Hi, nice to meet you. Let's get started. React to this.

Mickey Mellen: And what'd you build that in?

Chris LaFay: It's WordPress. WordPress with Claude. Claude.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. Claude. Claude. Claude did it. Yeah. Well, how did Claude build it in WordPress?

Chris LaFay: So I have a. I have a core theme, parent theme that I built that has about 15 different. 15 Different building blocks.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: That are combination. Most of them are ACF powered with Gutenberg inside of it.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: That way, in code, I can control responsiveness. But then you have the Gutenberg flexibility as well, too. I have all that structure. There's a lot of markdown files in that parent theme that explain how to use each block, how they're structured, when to use it, why to use it from a content perspective. Their story, brand methodology baked in there in markdown files as well, too.

Mickey Mellen: Nice.

Chris LaFay: And what I do, I have a. I have a. It's not a command, but it basically is a command. It's a. I basically can submit. So. And then the. There's a child theme that's spun up for every subsite that.

Mickey Mellen: Who spins up? You do, or Claude does?

Chris LaFay: Yes. So I basically. What I do when I'm Ready? I go into Claude code and into the, like, the parent theme directory, like within, like the cloud conversation.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: I'm like, all right, we're gonna spend up a website for publicom.com. Here's their existing website. Go look at all of the stuff in my brain of, like, sales transcripts related to this person.

Mickey Mellen: Yep.

Chris LaFay: Here's any files that I've received via email and here's the site map. Go and spin up the site. And what it does is it creates a repository for the child site. It creates a site on wp engine. It then creates the theme JSON file. It creates a repository on GitHub for the child theme and then dumps all of the core, like the main, like copy and pastable child theme into that repository. It pulls the repository from the core theme and puts it in that same install. So we have the repository for the core and repository for the child right in the same spot. So core updates get.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Dumped into it automatically. And then once that's done, it says, okay, can you go on the local app and on your desktop and just push. Pull down from WP engine so that there's a local folder structure for all of this. I do that. Once it's done pulling down, I say, continue. And then it goes and looks. It actually does content stuff. So it reads the side, reads the content, looks at the site map, figures out the color Shemes, the whole 9 yards. Writes the theme JSON file with the colors, figures out the border radiuses, the drop shadows, the font selection from Google fonts, the logo into the nav bar, the pages and the navigation that it needs to have. And the first step is just building out the homepage.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: And then I tweak, Right. And once I tweak the homepage, then I say, do you have enough information for the rest of the site map? And a lot of times it says, sure. And like, it pulled, like, I showed you the products, like, it pulled those exactly from the website. I did. I did. No tweaking with that. And it created the products custom post type. It created the ac. It did. Oh, dang. During. Yeah, it was like, hey, I see products. I think that should be a custom post type. Right? And I was like, yes, here's the fields I think it needs. But if you think that there should be other ones, let me know. Yeah. And it did it. Like, that's like a total of three or four hours of work.

Mickey Mellen: Right. And it looks good.

Chris LaFay: It does look good. Yeah.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. He'll be some degree of happy with it. I don't know him well enough to know for sure, but he should be like, yeah, this is about right. So. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Do you swap and put better photos in there? Like, all right.

Mickey Mellen: Hey, what is that? Yeah, you have the auto repair guys. Do you have any of his client sites?

Chris LaFay: Oh, yeah, I don't actually work on any of his other. I don't work on any of his. Like, I've been working on his template. Not his client sites are the ones that.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, he says he updates himself, and I want to see if he really does.

Chris LaFay: Let's see. Is this one. Nope, same name. Not the right one. Hold on, let me do this.

Mickey Mellen: I tried a bunch of creative Googling and didn't get very far.

Chris LaFay: Where is my Claude? There's my Claude. Claude. Where's my chief of stuff? I'm going to talk to my AI. Hold on a second. I want you to go into all of my meetings with Gavin, look at the transcripts, and see if you can find me any domain names that we talked about that were his client websites.

Mickey Mellen: Was that Whisper Flow into there? Okay, nice.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, I honestly do whisper flow with Claude 85 of the time. Like, when I type to Claude, it bothers me because it's so slow because I'm typing it. That's the one I've heard.

Mickey Mellen: Whisper Flow and iPhone just got a lot worse, though, with the recent update.

Chris LaFay: Yes.

Mickey Mellen: Okay. Daniel Segura mentioned that. Yeah, it's like an extra tap back and forth to get into it and stuff.

Chris LaFay: So there you are.

Mickey Mellen: Yep.

Chris LaFay: Push the little globe.

Mickey Mellen: Oh.

Chris LaFay: And then start.

Mickey Mellen: Okay.

Chris LaFay: But then it goes to that screen. It's like, please, now swipe. And then now I had to push start again.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, that's a pain. Apple did that on purpose.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Look at that. Isn't that stupid?

Mickey Mellen: Yep. Nice.

Chris LaFay: Still works well, though.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah. That was Claude got for you.

Chris LaFay: It's looking. Here's what I got. 19 Transcripts. Dude, this is freaking. This is nuts. Yeah. Okay. We've actually only talked about. It's G and G Auto House. There we go. Okay. Wow. We really haven't talked about that many.

Mickey Mellen: Shoot.

Chris LaFay: Frick. Okay, Those are right, though. There it is. Okay, Auto House. I'm just gonna text you the links. Gmg empire auto,.

Mickey Mellen: Gg, Mercedes repair dot com.

Chris LaFay: Is this the right one? Document mechanic dot com. Nope. That's not right. Bad job. Yeah, that's totally not cool. And number three. Boom. Those are the three that we've talked about over the last three months.

Mickey Mellen: Ouch.

Chris LaFay: That he's used this.

Mickey Mellen: Gotcha. Yeah. Offhand Initial client says they're doing a pretty good job keeping updated, which is unfortunate.

Chris LaFay: So they also, the owner wants to switch from WordPress to Astro.

Mickey Mellen: Okay, yeah, that's becoming the hot thing. I've not done much with it yet.

Chris LaFay: And I was like, are he, is he wanting to do like headless WordPress? He's like, no. He wants to convert literally every website of ours to Astro. This, that and the other. Because of page speed and blah blah, blah. I literally built the dude a plugin in like 3 hours. That nixed his requirement for Gravity Forms. They didn't really need Gravity Forms and that dropped his page. Like, that dropped their space feed in a positive way, reduced their page speed. And I was like, we can automate more of this stuff if you just let me. Like, it's not that hard.

Mickey Mellen: They're very inconsistent with their updates. How about that?

Chris LaFay: Okay, I'll bring it up to him again.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, they're.

Chris LaFay: He's underwater. He's literally, I will say he's not going to make any moves until his boss man decides whether or not he actually wants to move to Astro or not.

Mickey Mellen: Yeah, that's a big, big question for sure.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, yeah. But I, I have a meeting with him on Thursday where we're going to talk about some other stuff. I'll bring it up to him again because the dude's underwater. He's smart enough to know where his lanes are, I will give him that. But he is also very conservative when it comes to. Basically, I told him the thing that you're doing has a lot of copy and paste work on it and it's taking you way too long. I could literally write you a Claude script to handle most of this. He's like, I don't trust Claude. I was like, but Claude's doing all the writing for you and you're just copying and pasting. I could just have it do it all in one fell swoop and then you can review it in one fell swoop so that you're not 1, 1, 1, 1, 1,. 1, 1, 1 And playing tennis. And he's like, I just don't know if I trusted enough. I'm like, oh my gosh, he is a, he is a smarter guy. We'll give him that. Like, he is working with a lot of different moving pieces and I would not want his job by any stretch of the imagination, but he is very risk averse when it comes to that. So.

Mickey Mellen: Gotcha. Nice. Understood. Anyway, all right, I'm gonna get to work in Lovable with all this updates. I just got handed to me, so.

Chris LaFay: Cool. Sounds good.

Mickey Mellen: All right, I'll keep you posted. Sweet. Later.
