Matt Nelson - Current
Matt Nelson: How does this translate for mobile use, by the way, do you think? I mean, is it readable?
Chris LaFay: So basically we. What a lot of these are doing and I can actually. A lot of the blocks that are on that style guide, all of them are already mobile friendly. And that's actually pull up before everything crashed was most things will either stack on top of one another left to right. So left goes right goes on bottom. But then things that are cards will typically be horizontal scrolls. So you'll see one card up and then a little bit of the right edge of another one. So that you have an idea. Kind of like products on Amazon. Right. Cool. Because in reality, a lot of your blocks are stackable. And so let me see if I will not break. So why not break this again? Here we go. Will this break? All right, I'm going to share my screen really quick. There we go. So what you'll see. So things like. Now this is going back to the style guide that we looked at the other day. Other than having a little bit of spacing on the left hand, right hand side, that hero section will say kind of with the image on top, with the text on the bottom. Here's that one with kind of that gradient that goes over it. Here's that left and right column section where that image was a square on the left and everything else was big on the right. That stacks nicely. These are those image cards that we were looking at before. So this is kind of where a small little tweak came in, where Claude did some different designing. We have these stat cards. These kind of, you know, go into a grid format. They kind of go into the. Not. I don't mean to say this, like, ridiculously, but kind of in like the logical way, these testimonial cards just kind of slide back and forth. This is that horizontal slide that I was talking about here. So that's how things either transition into cards with horizontal scrolls or they go into stackable forms, typically with an image on the top and then whatever the content is below, even if it's the opposite way on desktop.
Matt Nelson: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Okay.
Erin Dyer: I was going to share some of these pages, but I think that we're just going to have to. It'll transition fine. Like there, you know, some of these were a little bit like, out there with, like the way that all the style is laid out and, you know, it's not very consistent. So I guess that was really was like, oh, how are we going to. How are we going to make all this transition? But I. I think it will be fine. I think that it should build out. All right, I'm.
Chris LaFay: I re. Okay, so what. What. I'm sorry. So I actually, I think I answered your question a very different way than you were expecting. What I. What you. Now hearing that what you were saying is on your existing pages, obviously you have like, 50 or 60 different unique blocks. We looked at that in meeting number one. Now we have 15. How is that going to. Yeah. So we have a person on our team that does content migration, and she just. She. This is what she does. She's really good at it, and she just makes executive decisions on the. This is the library of stuff that I have. And here are the pieces in the library that are inflexible, but here are the pieces that are flexible. How do I take this page that looks odd and morph it into this? And that's just what she does.
Erin Dyer: Yeah, I mean, that's great. That was the big thing because, you know, we didn't. We're not quoted in redoing all of the pages, so, yeah, we're not specked out for that. Finally, I had a great talk with Sophie the other day.
Dawn Audano: Love her.
Erin Dyer: I can tell why you love her. She's just great. So nice. Super knowledgeable, Was prepared with everything. She is putting together kind of an overview for us and then a couple different options that we're going to go over with Matt and Matt about how to move forward with this. So I anticipate that we're going to be doing that. I was very impressed with her.
Chris LaFay: So, yeah, she is. She is smart. She's absolutely wicked smart. And so when we host our next topgolf thing, she'll probably be there as well, too. So get to meet her in person, which would be great.
Erin Dyer: Yeah. Yeah. Enjoyed it.
Chris LaFay: Awesome. No, that's. That's fantastic. They do. They've done a handful of stuff for various clients of ours, and everybody that I reach back out to to check in on how things have gone have all said very positive things. So they're. They're a large company, they're based in Australia, but the great thing about that is that SEO is literally all that they do. Yeah. And so you have this, like, powerhouse of a huge agency in Australia, but also the nimbleness and smallness of them getting things moving here in the States. And so you kind of get the best of both worlds of large company with the good playbooks, but also the nimble startup aspect of. Of that as well, too. And so it's a. It's a great mix. Yeah.
Erin Dyer: And she asked all the right questions. You know what I mean? Like, yeah, not just like classic SEO. I think that that's a big deal.
Chris LaFay: Exactly. Yes, exactly. They're, they're, they're ahead of the curve right now. And so I'm 10 out of 10 definitely recommend. If you have any questions about, let me know. I'm not, I'm not a big se. Like, I don't. I personally don't know a ton about SEO. I know enough about to be dangerous and what to do right and what to do wrong. But, but yeah, I'm glad. Very, very happy. So when, When y' all figure out what you. Exactly what you're gonna do, let me know that you guys, when you guys are moving forward. And I'll get in touch with Sophie and be like, how do we merge our operations together? We've done it a handful of times. Everything is always a little bit different with processes. But. But, yeah. All right,.
Erin Dyer: So what are our next steps for this week? What should I be looking out for, Dawn? What do I owe you?
Chris LaFay: Images.
Erin Dyer: Not just money. I know about that one.
Chris LaFay: I know. So, like, folders of images and whatnot. That's definitely.
Erin Dyer: Yeah. I'm gonna be working on these.
Chris LaFay: We have the general structure for the homepage. Solid and good to go. We're going to take some of these elements that Claude has designed, kind of those micro changes that you, you pointed out, and then merge those into the style guide. What you saw today has not been coded out yet. It's all Figma designs. And so then the goal will then to be to take, take that and get it moved into development. But then we also need to start thinking about the collection pages as well. And so one thing I would like to. I know we're at time at 11 is I would like to understand the, the, the, the meeting that we had last week. We talked a lot about, like, the homepage architecture verbally. I would love to talk with you about the collection layout and like, verbally process what's important to showcase on those pages, because I think the layout of each of them are basically going to be the same. Probably about 85%. Yeah, there'll be some nuances there, I know, but that's the next conversation I would like to have because then we could then unleash Claude to design a couple of new things as well for those collection pages. Use some pieces that we already have as well, too. Those are going to be a little bit more thorough and longer. And then once those two pieces are done, will then finalize development and get things moving in terms of actually building out the skeletons of each of those pages. So those are kind of the next few steps. So I would not mind doing another 30 minute session this week to talk about the collections pages with you, Aaron, if that works for you.
Erin Dyer: Absolutely.
Chris LaFay: So, Matt, not to cut you out, but I just don't think. I don't think you're necessary for that conversation.
Matt Nelson: Aaron knows. I mean, she's been doing this a long time and I trust her. So we're good.
Chris LaFay: Awesome. Wednesday morning, I'm available and we can record that. Son, I. I don't have your calendar pulled up, but I can also record that for you. I could do anytime between 10 and 1 on Wednesday.
Erin Dyer: 10.
Chris LaFay: Okay. Awesome. Don, would you like to be a part of that or do you want me to record it and send you the recording?
Dawn Audano: I can. You can add me.
Chris LaFay: Okay, awesome. Sounds good. Going ahead and sending this out now. Perfect. Excellent. That is sent out. So we'll. We'll discuss that on Wednesday and then I'll see if between Wednesday and next Monday if my designer has some time to actually put some stuff together within, you know, that shorter time. So we'll either our next Monday go over the collection page design or we'll go over kind of like a pencil sketch of it. So that sound good.
Erin Dyer: That was great, guys.
Chris LaFay: Awesome. Thank you all very much.
Erin Dyer: All right, thank you, Wednesday.
Chris LaFay: Thank you. Bye. Bye.
