Meeting
Chris & Gavin: One-off Meeting Slot
Gist
Weekly working session with Gavin on Local Jungle. Bulk of the call was troubleshooting page-speed problems with Gavin's WordPress dev team (Craig's push toward Astro migration, plugin bloat, caching/UTM issues) and Chris walking Gavin through GitHub so he can pull updates to the custom Local Jungle Core plugin (locations, nav CTA, schedule-online blocks) directly instead of relying on the dev team. Chris also demoed the gamified side-scroller easter-egg feature he built into his own Classic City homepage, which led Gavin to float a possible collaboration between his other marketing/ads business and Chris's clients. They agreed to revisit that idea after Chris returns from a trip.

What came out of it
Decisions4
- Chris will send Gavin the Local Jungle Core plugin and GitHub repo access so Gavin can implement blocks himself.
- Gavin will add Chris to the website/template so he can help implement things correctly.
- Local Jungle will stay on WordPress for now rather than moving to Astro until migration is proven out.
- Chris to create documentation (already partially done via markdown/HTML blocks guide) for the plugin.
Risks and blockers5
- Dev team spent ~100-150 hours on tasks Gavin considers basic, raising cost and trust concerns.
- Page speed scores inconsistent (60s-90s) due to caching/UTM issues and conflicting speed plugins (WP Rocket vs SiteGround Speed Optimizer).
- Astro migration plan is not well understood by the current team and relies heavily on AI-assisted code translation, which concerns Chris.
- No in-house developer currently understands the Astro codebase.
- Team lacks a dedicated developer since the E2M relationship didn't work out.
Open questions3
- Will the Astro migration actually work as Craig envisions, and how long will it realistically take?
- How will the location blocks handle clients with many (e.g. 20) locations?
- Will Craig approve using Chris's plugin on the new onboarding clients?
