Chris LaFay: That's fine. I went ahead and started the triage process on them just now. So while we're meeting here today, it's getting them — or the robots are getting them organized into things that it can do without my two cents. So by the time we get done with the meeting, it'll have everything organized on stuff that I need to do versus stuff that it can do.

State Election Board: So cool.

Chris LaFay: Yes. And I think I downloaded—

Dawn Audano: There was a lot of mobile. Like, have you — have you checked it for mobile?

Chris LaFay: Not as much. See the pro. So the — what I was hoping — hoping now that is, they had their whole design system that was already coded out. And what I'm realizing is, like, some stuff just didn't — doesn't — didn't work as well as it should have. There's plenty of stuff that works that works great. But, like, they commented a couple times, it's fixed now. But like the — in the footer at the very top, there's like, that blue bar that has, like, the seal and the name. And, like, the name was, like, pushed up against the line. And I'm like, this is code that, like, it's the same code. Like, we shouldn't have to be doing stuff like that. I mean, it's not — it's not their fault is what it is. Like, there's no right—

State Election Board: Yeah.

Dawn Audano: The spacing of that still looks weird, but it does.

Chris LaFay: It really does. And I — there's a part of me that also just doesn't want to write a line of code that's like, move this down three pixels because then that's going to be — I saw your Dave Matthews comment. I'm so used to, like, the titles of all them being, like, very AI focused, which is fine. It doesn't matter to me. I'm like, scrolling through the list. I'm like, there's — there's emoji. What? What? That's — oh, man, I haven't heard. Dave. Oh, okay. I gotta add a couple songs. I have — I started a playlist when we drove down to Florida in the summertime of just songs that we haven't heard in a long time. Like, when you listen to Spotify, you just get all the, like, the new stuff, or you, like, you play your one playlist or whatever it is. I'm like, there's like, John Mayer songs I haven't heard in forever. And, like, all these other ones and so I created a Florida playlist that now has almost seven hours of music in it. And it's just songs that just don't pop up ever.

Dawn Audano: It's fine. I know we had talked last week maybe not having it, and then I should have followed up.

State Election Board: So, so sorry. How are y'all doing today?

Dawn Audano: Good. How are you?

State Election Board: Good. So sorry. I'm trying to fix it so it's not so dark, but. Is this Google? ... Do you see her? ... Well, how are y'all doing today.

Chris LaFay: I'm actually heading out tomorrow to go visit a friend up in Virginia, so got a lot of things on my plate today, but then I'm gonna be able to rest and relax for a couple of days.

State Election Board: I love Virginia. It's so beautiful.

Dawn Audano: Yeah. And I did just — I think today can be kind of a shorter meeting. I wanted to give you a quick update and kind of let you know what Chris and I are hoping for the rest of the week since he is going out of town and then kind of maybe where we'll stand next week. So if you — do you guys have anything you want to discuss outside of that or should I just jump right on in? Great. So Chris, can you — sorry, I'm putting on the spot. Can you showcase the website as to where it is right now? We have gotten in all of the content changes that came in last week, so those are all completed. I went in and did some initial — some — some of our internal QA just to kind of find some like functionality things that I'd like for us to work on before we hand the site over to you for your final review and approval. So I want to — I'm going to do a couple of call outs actually. Chris, can you call out kind of the things that you notice as far as the layouts that you want to fix?

Chris LaFay: Yes. Yeah. So we got all of your content changes and there's things that we still want to edit. So you do not need to go back on the site now and drop any feedback because we're in the process of still making some changes. So a couple of things that we noticed. We got all of your meetings added in, but we have no upcoming meetings. So one thing that would be great to have from you guys would be a list of some upcoming meetings, their locations, their times, etc, so that this section is not completely empty. So that would just be a good habit of getting into, of just going ahead and just pre populating some of those things. We got your different blog posts in here as well. We do have a lot of content we've went ahead and added. We kind of moved all around all the different people and whatnot, arranged them appropriately, et cetera, et cetera, got the footer up to date. One of the other things we'll need — there was a comment about adding more social media icons. We just need to know what the URLs of those need to be so that we can add those appropriately. We slimmed down the footer since there wasn't as much stuff that was left. At that point we only had the one link that you guys wanted. So we went ahead and kind of removed some of the extra pieces that were there. We do have a handful of pages that are a lot of just content. So one of the things that we're going to go through and do is kind of move some of these into possibly some three column layouts. We did get the form put in here as well. So that — that is looking like it's functioning.

Dawn Audano: I'm going to ask one more call out. So on this complaint form, if you view this right now on mobile, this form is broken. I don't know if this — this is a full embed, correct?

Chris LaFay: Yes, this is.

Dawn Audano: So we might need to reach back out to Victor. View it if you can view it and inspector real quick and let so they can kind of see what we're seeing too. And so scroll to the form, go back up right there. You'll see that this is just does not work at all. And I'm not sure if can we do anything with that or do we need to reach back out to Victor?

Chris LaFay: I think we need to reach back out there because that on mobile this part is fine, the actual form section in of itself but it's this step by step piece that on a mobile device goes kind of over the edges and so Victor will probably have to do something about that if I had to guess this.

Chris LaFay: So we have that there. We're going to be adding in hero sections into each of these. So it's just not — doesn't start with a wall of text. We have the form built in. We have all the address stuff. We had the different links that were requested as well. So that's all in there. We have the link over to the election calendar which opens up into a new tab. We have the — this is the just FOIA link to submitted opens records request, have a list of faq. So we got a lot of the content stuff in here. You'll also see underneath meetings that we got three pages worth of meetings added. So if you go back to one of these you'll see that it has the meetings minutes here that's dynamically attached. So we have all the stuff that was able to get pulled in from the current website. So like this one had the public notice as well too. And then it timestamps itself. So once it goes into the pass—

State Election Board: Can I ask a question, Chris? So go back to the just FOIA page. So how come that ours is not like a hyperlink like that for the — for the complaints.

Chris LaFay: How come yours is not a — yours is not a hyperlink? What do you mean by that?

State Election Board: No, whenever you do the complaint intake form, which is this one over here. Right here. Yeah. So you see how the difference of the other one and like, like, is this a — are you filling it out right on the website?

Chris LaFay: You can. Yeah, yes. You can kind of go through it and actually fill it out. Right. That was one of the — that was one of the options that Victor gave us was to be able to embed the form directly on here.

State Election Board: What do you think? So it goes directly into our system, right? Yeah, but it's not different than the form going directly into our system. It's what it would be no different than a form going directly into our system. I'm just saying if they can't get it to work on the mobile, then maybe just like the — just FOIA where you click it and go to the form.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, I mean that, that is also an option he did get. I believe he gave us a link for that. So I like the idea of having the form embedded if that's a possibility. It's just one less thing for people to do. And so if you want to reach out to them and say, hey, we noticed that on a mobile device the step by steps don't respond down on a mobile device, well, if that is something that could be fixed, that'd be great. If not, just have him send over a link that we can then just populate as a button. So either — either are perfectly fine. There's no issues either way. This is just less steps for somebody to take. That's where we're at right now. We're going to add some more images across the board. We got all the content in. We're going to make some of these things, send us some three column blocks and stuff like that with photos. But outside of that, a lot of the — a lot of the core stuff is done. Again, kind of honing in on the upcoming meetings. Getting some of those in as well would be very helpful. So did y'all have any preferences? Basically what we were thinking about doing was basically taking the image library that you have and given that most of them are fairly generic, election, American flag kind of things, just kind of using them wherever we see fit. Just because there's not really hyper specific photos with these and just go ahead and kind of sprinkling them through the site. Is there anything in particular that you guys were like, I want this photo in this location.

Dawn Audano: You're both muted in case you're talking to us.

State Election Board: Hey, can you hear me now? ... Okay. Is there a way — can we have — wait, can we have the link as it is right now to look through after this meeting?

Chris LaFay: In order to do what? To leave feedback or to tell us what photos you want to put on which pages that — that, yeah, that's fine. The link is still the same. So if you want to go through and tell us the image IDs of which ones would go where, that's perfectly fine. What I would actually — actually this is what I would recommend. Let — one of the things that we're going to do is we're going to put emit like hero sections with images or banner sections with images here at the top of each of these. So let us actually go through and do a round of our own QA to get put all the images in slots.

State Election Board: Okay.

Chris LaFay: So rather than you having to make design decisions, those design decisions will be done. And then when you're over, pretend that this — there was like a three column block here. What we're looking at, even though it's not — what you could then do is let's say there was a photo right here. You could then highlight the photo and say swap with image ID like that.

State Election Board: Okay, that's perfect. Because I wouldn't know where we would even be able to have a picture.

Chris LaFay: Exactly. Yeah. So let — we'll make all the design and layout decisions for you. And then some pages just won't lend themselves to having good photography on them. Some of them there are going to be a couple of pages that there really isn't a way to format it other than just a wall of text. Because if we take a wall of text and we try to put it in a three column layout, that text gets squished and then it becomes really long. And we don't want to do that either. So we'll make those decisions so that you have a general idea. Then in your last round of QA that you go through and do, you can tell us which images you'd like to swap. That sound good?

Chris LaFay: And my goal is to get through most of this stuff today before I head out tomorrow. So I will — one of two things will happen on Wednesday or Thursday. Either I'll shoot you a loom video to kind of walk you through like — like here's where all the things are. Feel free to go through make QA. Or Dawn might do that just depending on timing of how things go. So — that sound good?

Dawn Audano: Well, I will — I'll send over a recap of the few things that we could use from you today would be just reconnecting with Victor about the complaint form and mobile — what's the word I'm looking for? Mobile responsiveness.

Chris LaFay: Hey, there it is.

Dawn Audano: It took me way too long to get to the word responsiveness. Mobile responsiveness, as well as social media links. So if you have any social media links that you can send over to us, get those to us now so we can make sure to add those to the footer and make sure things are linked appropriately. And then we'll send this over to you with those designs, changes, and tweaks and then some of our little buttons. I'm sure as we were clicking through, you saw other things. You're like, oh, that doesn't look the way I want it to. Some of those are already in our QA notes, so we'll fix those things. And if you see anything else, once we send it back to you with the loom, you can add those and we'll get it all ready. And then hopefully we have a final site for you, like, early next week.

State Election Board: Which would be awesome. What color scheme are you using? Is it stars and stripes still?

Chris LaFay: Whichever one that you toss in the ticket is the one that we're using. I just don't remember which what the name of it was. Stars and Stripes was the first one that we were using.

State Election Board: And was it State House?

Chris LaFay: I think so. That sounds familiar.
