Transcript 242 turns

Project: Publicom Inc. website (publicom.com) — go-live / DNS + SSL on Flywheel.

Attendees: Chris LaFay (Classic City Consulting), Nathan Ross (Owner, Publicom Inc. / Blackwater Digital Services — Fireflies labels his turns "Blackwater Digital Services").

> ASR note: Fireflies mangled several proper nouns throughout — "public comment / publicom.in.com / Publicom Inc.com / publiccomic.com / Bubblecom" all = **publicom.com / Publicom Inc.**; "Ionis / iOS" = **Ionos**; "Mickey Mellon / Green Melon / MELlen media" = **Mickey, greenmellenmedia.com**; "quadruple A" = **AAAA (IPv6) record**; "seaminess" = "sameness." The opening ~90 seconds is a Chris async voice note addressed to "Keith" (a separate project) recorded before Nathan joined the live call.

---

Chris LaFay: Hey Keith, I hope you had a fantastic weekend. Pardon my brevity here as I'm in between meetings today. I looked at the Word documents that you submitted via Google Drive and I noticed that they didn't fall in alignment with the layout structures that I sent over in that Google Doc late last week. Now I'm sure these are probably some older documents, but I was wondering it would make the importing process simpler and a lot more accurate if we use those blocks that I sent over that were in that Google Doc. I believe I sent over a loom video about it as well. Let me know if you have any questions about that or if I need to provide any additional clarity. It. Good afternoon.

Blackwater Digital Services: Howdy.

Chris LaFay: How was your. How was your weekend?

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, that was good as can be expected. Worked a little bit. How about you?

Chris LaFay: What did I do? I. We had a. We had a DND game on Saturday. So that was. That was fun. And then I played music twice on Sunday. So I was. Yeah, I play at church most Sundays and so I played at my church and I have a friend who for right now their church meets in the afternoon and he booked me yesterday afternoon which I did not have in my calendar and so his invite did not make it to my calendar. So I double teamed there and then I have an evening thing on Sundays that I do with some guy friends as well. So I was out of my house on Sunday from 8am till 11pm wow. And so I'm here today. I made it to today. So that's a.

Blackwater Digital Services: Welcome to today.

Chris LaFay: Yes, Exactly.

Blackwater Digital Services: So close to the finish line.

Chris LaFay: Yes sir, exactly.

Blackwater Digital Services: Perfect.

Chris LaFay: I'm going to let you do the screen sharing because there's going to be some copy and paste stuff that will be easier for you to just do rather than giving me access to another couple of different systems.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yep. Okay.

Chris LaFay: And I did. I haven't taken a website live on Flywheel in a while and so I did a little bit of research this morning and it seems everything I saw seems like it's basically the same as it's been in the past. So.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay. Well I have. I think I can close this down tab. Ha.

Chris LaFay: Nope. Hey Ally. Oh yeah, You can't close that tab. In case you were wondering.

Blackwater Digital Services: I figured that out. Okay. That tab will remain open. Okay. So I got Flywheel open. I got Godaddy where all my other DNS stuff is living in Ionos, which is where the public comment.com website DNS.

Chris LaFay: Lovely. Already set up for success. Big fan. Okay cool. So let's go to Flywheel and go ahead and go into public. And what I was curious about, because inside the database of this whole website, there's a lot of the, you know, these Flywheel domains sitting around. So when you add a domain, one of the biggest things going live is does the server go through and like swap all those domains out? And the answer is yes. So we have nothing manual. We have to do you.

Blackwater Digital Services: Great.

Chris LaFay: So at the top of that table, on the left hand side, you'll see add domain. Let's go ahead and click on that. Wait, on the right hand corner of that. Nope, on the left hand. On the left hand pod. Oh, okay, there it is. It's. It's like. It's on the left.

Blackwater Digital Services: I know how infuriating that is to be the person describing where something is on a screen and just seeing the mouse fall over the place. So I apologize.

Chris LaFay: Oh, it's. It's really. Okay. Type in your domain name.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: And click on Next. Can you zoom in a couple, like Control plus plus a few. There we go.

Blackwater Digital Services: Do I have to do either?

Chris LaFay: So which one do you have a preference for? Which one is the main one? Either with dubs or without dubs? Do you care?

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, I don't care.

Chris LaFay: Doesn't matter. I would go ahead and say. I would go ahead and check both of those boxes. So make. Yeah, because you want to have both of them pointing.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah. Okay. So next.

Chris LaFay: Lovely. Next. Yes. How many monitors do you have?

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, so many.

Chris LaFay: Because I. I watched your head go like, up.

Blackwater Digital Services: I only have two, but I'm. I am doing like 18 other things because I got stuck on hold with something.

Chris LaFay: I love that. It's a wonderful feeling. Okay, so since you're at Ionis, it looks like Flywheel has a connection into Ionis and it can do all your DNS updates for you automatically. So it just depends on if you would prefer that or if you would rather do the copy and paste methods.

Blackwater Digital Services: Well, so I don't want to keep anything at Ionos though. That's the thing. So everything needs to move over to GoDaddy.

Chris LaFay: Oh, okay. So you need. You want to move your domain to GoDaddy.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, I'm done with iOS and GoDaddy is where I have all my other stuff. All my hostings on Flywheel, all my domains and other services, including email, are on GoDaddy. So.

Chris LaFay: Okay, okay, okay. If you had mentioned this back at the very beginning, I did not have a record of this and I sincerely apologize. I did not know we needed to move this from one to the other. It's not a hard process. It takes time and there might be some downtime involved. So do you know how much of the technicalities behind DNS do you understand?

Blackwater Digital Services: I mean, I understand enough to know how to do it. I mean, basically I have to take all of the MX and other records and port them over to GoDaddy once I transfer the domain. But.

Chris LaFay: There's a lot of them and see that's. So that right there, that is. This is the problem with domain. So domain like management is like. Well, I'm just going to simply say like it's stuck in the 90s.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: You would think that if you transfer domain ownership from one registrar to another, the new one would go and look at all your records and copy and paste them for you automatically.

Blackwater Digital Services: Right.

Chris LaFay: It's possible some of them do it. Not many of them do. And I don't understand why. So when that. When that domain name transfers over the DNS, the address book, the DNS is erased and you have to mainly copy and paste over.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: So the registrar swapping process does not take long. Meaning there's like it's a couple steps. Validation. You'll like unlock it on Ionos. You'll go to GoDaddy and say, I want to move this domain over. Here's my security key. And then Ionos will receive that and it'll start the porting process over. That manual part is quick, especially if you're like looking at your email. That. That's all fine.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: The actual move of the domain name from location A to location B, sometimes it's instantaneous, sometimes it's not.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: And then you have to go through and update the DNS records and now all of that is changing from an Internet perspective. So there's downtime that's baked into that.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, I'm okay with that.

Chris LaFay: So.

Blackwater Digital Services: Do you.

Chris LaFay: So the, the go. The going live process on Flywheel, let's actually just back up for one second is let's pretend you were staying with Ionis. All you would do is you would add a cname record and an A record point to Flywheel and you're. And we're done.

Blackwater Digital Services: That's right.

Chris LaFay: So do. I cannot guarantee you that if we go ahead and do the domain name migration from Ionis to GoDaddy now that that migration will happen in the next 30 to 45 minutes.

Blackwater Digital Services: Well, so it sounds like what we need to do is we need to update Ionos with everything and then transfer the domain over to GoDaddy. Right?

Chris LaFay: I don't recall, but I don't think GoDaddy will. Will pull your DNS records in for you. So it doesn't really. The order of operations doesn't really matter because GoDaddy is going to erase it anyway and then you have to put it back in. Okay, so six of one, half a dozen of the other. Like we could take it live right now and then you could choose whenever you want. Like if we took it live right now, there would basically be no downtime.

Blackwater Digital Services: Right.

Chris LaFay: Because it's all in Ionis. And then you could choose. When do you want to move the domain from point A to point B? Whenever you want to. Because it is as simple as what you're saying. You do all the codes, you copy, and you just have a copy and paste party. I would recommend copying these out into like an Excel doc rather than a screenshot. I think. I think I saw you take a screenshot. Yeah, I would say them into an Excel document. So you could literally copy and paste rather than freehand typing.

Blackwater Digital Services: How do I do that?

Chris LaFay: I would highlight it like you're copying and then just.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, okay. Okay, good. Yeah.

Chris LaFay: So do you want to go ahead and take it live on Ionis now and then you can then migrate the domain whenever you want?

Blackwater Digital Services: I guess so. And I'll just. Then I'll just migrate the domain as soon as we get off. I mean this, this is not a mission critical website. So it's not like, yeah, we're going to lose business by being down for 45 minutes.

Chris LaFay: Yeah.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, so let's do that.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, let's go back to Flywheel. You can either do it manually or you can give it your Ionis login credentials and it'll go and swap the A record and the CNAME record. This is my preference as well too.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah. Okay, so let's. Oops. God damn it. Can you still see my screen?

Chris LaFay: Yes, I can. The same screen that you were sharing. So I see Google Meet right now. So all the.

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, wait, I. I accidentally moved my tab off. That's why.

Chris LaFay: Okay, there it is.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, so the A record is going to be post a ATS.

Chris LaFay: Now. You also have a quadruple A in there. I don't know. I haven't had to update a quadruple A in a while. What is a quadruple?

Blackwater Digital Services: This service will be disabled.

Chris LaFay: Can you zoom in on this as well? Control plus, do you need us or the host name a record?

Blackwater Digital Services: I think it's just saying that I won't be allowed Ionis website anymore.

Chris LaFay: Which. Yeah. Which is what I Figured one thing to note. So before you make this change, these are.

Blackwater Digital Services: And these are IPv6 addresses. That's what they are.

Chris LaFay: You don't need. No. Okay. Before you click okay, though, did you copy out into an. Into an Excel file the entire DNS? I think I saw you do it.

Blackwater Digital Services: I did, yeah.

Chris LaFay: Okay. Then I would change the TTL from one hour to whatever the lowest number is that's timed. Alive technically doesn't impact this migration. It technically impacts the next one. But still like to do it.

Blackwater Digital Services: Is it. Is it pronounced time to live? I always pronounce the time to live.

Chris LaFay: I. Yeah, because the web's the. You're making me think now it's. I pretty sure it's live because.

Blackwater Digital Services: Well, because isn't this the amount of time that the request gets to live out in the ether before it kills it? So time to live. I could be wrong.

Chris LaFay: No, you know, that actually makes sense because technically, technically ttl, like if you go. You're changing TTL now from an hour to one minute, it technically doesn't matter because all the old records are out there that are. They're set to one hour anyway. You're just kind of setting yourself up for success later down the road. So it would actually make sense that it's time to live versus time to live. Because I was thinking it's the. It's the amount of time till the next one is a lot like it's live. Because I, I do these. Like when you do like website launches and it's like you take the website live live.

Blackwater Digital Services: Right.

Chris LaFay: That makes sense. So interesting. Okay,.

Blackwater Digital Services: So then there's several. These, several of these C names. Can I just delete these other two?

Chris LaFay: I wouldn't. Just because I don't know what they're connected to. Um, if you knew for a fact that they were like, I own a specific website, you can use CNAME records for a multitude.

Blackwater Digital Services: No, these are. You know what these are? These are. These are email.

Chris LaFay: Oh. Oh, yeah. On Microsoft.com. Yeah. Yep. 100.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, so we'll leave those got. So we got these two.

Chris LaFay: And then you gotta verify the domain name text you're not going to edit. Actually don't even edit those. You'll. You'll just want to add a new text record.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: Most of the time text records are specifically for domain validation in some way shape or form. So you very rarely will edit one. You'll most of the time add a new one. Just good knowledge to have in your head.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Wait, that, that you didn't copy that okay, cool.

Blackwater Digital Services: Sorry. Yeah, I'm. I messed up. There we go. Okay, that should be right.

Chris LaFay: Okay. Save, save. Bada bing. Bada boom. Cool. All right, go back over to Flywheel. Close out the little chat there. There you go. Much better.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Dina, how do I update? Yeah, why. Why is the button gray? Scroll down. Is there buttons underneath? What?

Blackwater Digital Services: What the heck?

Chris LaFay: Why is it. That's weird.

Blackwater Digital Services: Maybe. Maybe it's like watching to see if that starts pointing to.

Chris LaFay: That's really freaking weird.

Blackwater Digital Services: It might just be waiting for it to actually go propagate.

Chris LaFay: Refresh this. This page. I've never normally. It's like, I'm done with this and what the heck, It's a terrible user experience.

Blackwater Digital Services: See the status? Click refresh on this page.

Chris LaFay: Boom. I don't even see.

Blackwater Digital Services: I don't even see here.

Chris LaFay: Well, technically, it would be done. Let's public. Public. Com. No public comment. It's probably not gonna be propagated yet,.

Blackwater Digital Services: But DNS status not connected.

Chris LaFay: Okay, cool. There we go. Status. Hey, hot dang, Something is propagated. Because I pulled up your website and it says that there's not an SSL certificate. So that's good.

Blackwater Digital Services: Mine says the site cannot be reached.

Chris LaFay: Put at the end of the. At the end of the dot com, put a question mark and type in some random characters. Doesn't matter what they are. Okay, that's fine. Go. Actually, so go back. Go ahead and go back over to Flywheel. Scroll down on this page. Keep on going. Actually, privacy mode. Turn privacy mode off. So that's like the login pop up that comes up. Oh, actually, it says that Publicom Inc.com is connected,.

Blackwater Digital Services: But not.

Chris LaFay: Interesting.

Blackwater Digital Services: Maybe I need to add another.

Chris LaFay: Did you put a scene. You put a cname for the dub dubs, didn't you?

Blackwater Digital Services: No, I didn't. I only put it for public comment dot com. Do I need to add this another cname?

Chris LaFay: I would assume so, yeah. Okay, that's really weird that I didn't. So the. The host is actually going to be. The host name is going to be www.and actually, before we copy and paste anything, go back over to Flywheel for me, because why wouldn't it have given you. Click on the. Click on the dot. The three ellipsis dots to the right of. I don't want to actually. Yeah, click on update and then update is probably refresh it, but I. I.

Blackwater Digital Services: Probably should add an ssl.

Chris LaFay: Wait, yeah, there we go. Dub dub dubs. Do we. Do we miss this?

Blackwater Digital Services: This wasn't host label www. I think. Oh, it says domain Connect.

Chris LaFay: I wonder if we didn't. I wonder if we left it empty on accident.

Blackwater Digital Services: Maybe that's it.

Chris LaFay: Oh wait. You might not be able to edit it.

Blackwater Digital Services: Oops. Yeah, it's not letting me edit it.

Chris LaFay: That's fine. It doesn't matter. You can just create a new one. It's okay.

Blackwater Digital Services: That's weird though. Why won't it let me?

Chris LaFay: Great question.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah. All right, I'll just create a new one. Maybe because it hasn't fully propagated yet.

Chris LaFay: Maybe. Interesting.

Blackwater Digital Services: All right. Does that look right?

Chris LaFay: Did you actually type in dub? Dub dubs. You know what? There. I bet that was the problem. We saw it in the placeholder text and.

Blackwater Digital Services: Probably it.

Chris LaFay: Okay, there we go.

Blackwater Digital Services: And then I'm also going to have to add an SSL certificate, right?

Chris LaFay: Yes. And that should just be a one click sort of thing in the back end. So if you go. There's like an. There's like an SSL tab I saw.

Blackwater Digital Services: Well, there is if neck the three dots. Oh wait, there we go. The three dots right here. It says add SSL certificate. Is that.

Chris LaFay: Yep. Push the button. That's exactly what you want. Oh, and it's actually going to do both of them for you, so. Oh yeah, do check DNS again. I don't want it to uncheck. Well, you need it on both unless you recently pointed verified unit. You can manage them proxy. That's fine. Go ahead. And just like if you scroll down, are you able to just click. Let's just click the magic buttons. You'll see what happens. Because on another screen they said that they were. Okay. Now this does take a few minutes sometimes because with the free SSL certs, there's a pipeline that everybody goes to and so you have to wait your turn for it. Okay,.

Blackwater Digital Services: There we go. Still says add SSL certificate and the site's not coming up.

Chris LaFay: Site is coming up for me.

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, that's weird.

Chris LaFay: No, I put a. I put a query string bust into it, but it. It's there, but the SSL is not there. So it does throw. It does throw a big old red error. Do the question mark with letters.

Blackwater Digital Services: No, still not working for me. That's weird that I'm working for you. Are you looking at. Are you seeing the old site or the new site?

Chris LaFay: Oh no, I'm seeing the new site. So the way that. So there's just a chance that my. My Comcast got fresh domains faster than yours. You can open up a command prompt and ping it if you want to see what the IP address is. Do you know how to do that?

Blackwater Digital Services: Says unknown host.

Chris LaFay: If you ping publicom.com or publicom.in.com I.

Blackwater Digital Services: Did www.publiccomic.com actually, let me do. If I do it without the www, it. It returns results from 151. Let me see if it's the right IP. Yeah, from the right IP. So it just doesn't like the www. Maybe it's just temporary then.

Chris LaFay: Yeah, if you're seeing one without the other. So I just ping both of them? Yeah, with dubs and without dubs. There we go.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, propagating. Okay, so.

Chris LaFay: Yes, that's good. Now is that what was the SSL on that one? No, on yours. Like when you go back to your view of publicom. Because I didn't see a red. I didn't see anything red and normally click on so. Yeah, yeah, sorry. Yep, I can't see that. So the, the menu doesn't show up on screen here.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, it says certificate is valid.

Chris LaFay: Sweet.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, it's working. That's working. Let me check the. Without the www, It just. It reroutes to www.

Chris LaFay: Yep. So you're just. You're just a little bit behind then. That's fine.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, so cool. So then now literally all I have to do is recopy all these new records and then move them over to GoDaddy once I do a transfer.

Chris LaFay: Yes. I don't know what all the gray records are below that. I'm assuming they're disabled records or old ones so that it like keeps a log of them in case you ever need to get them back. That's my assumption. I don't know. But just be aware that there's more than you copied only filtered by only.

Blackwater Digital Services: Records of main domain. If I reset that, it shows all of them. So yeah, you're probably right. It's old stuff.

Chris LaFay: Interesting. Okay, I'm going to go ahead and add you a user account on here. What is your email address, Nathan at.

Blackwater Digital Services: You know what, let's use my. I created a public comment let's. Or no, we'll keep it with. With Flywheel. Nathan at Blackwater Digital.

Chris LaFay: Blackwater Digital, Yeah.

Blackwater Digital Services: B L A C K W A T E R. Cool. You.

Chris LaFay: Now have an admin account on your website so you can do your whole reset password thing. And then one of the things on my list is to record you a tutorial video that kind of walks you through a lot of it. What you'll notice is there's a lot of seaminess. So once you. Once you kind of know how to use one or two of the things you'll be like, oh, that's the name of that block. And it works exactly the same as the other ones.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: So there's basically two ways that blocks are built. One is custom, so you fill out a form and stuff just works. The other is where it's completely customizable, where you can drag and drop literally anything. One, you understand how both of those work at their core, you kind of understand how everything else works. So as long as you know the name, you're good to go. But yeah, you have admin access. You can go through and edit content if you'd like. Flywheel does backups, so I would recommend, I'd recommend putting. Pushing the backup button now. Now the website's live, so that it's there. I did just remove the, the little red. The little QA box that you. Where you left feedback on.

Blackwater Digital Services: Well, I still need that though, because there's still a few things that I that might need tweaks that I might not be able to do. Okay, so is the login.

Chris LaFay: WP admin, WP dash admin. What I'm going to do is I'm going to activate the tool, but I'm going to change it to where it's only visible if you're a logged in user.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, perfect. And what's. What is my password?

Chris LaFay: Or do I just have to do a forgot password? Yeah, it was some random string of text. I didn't save it away.

Blackwater Digital Services: Right. Login. Check my email. There it is.

Chris LaFay: Excuse me, sorry.

Blackwater Digital Services: And the login is my full email address.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. And also just your first and last name, all lowercase. Nathan Ross.

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh, is that the login or is it my email address?

Chris LaFay: Both. Both work.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: Your username is technically Nathan Ross. And then your email is your email and it works for both.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: Bada bing, bada boom. You're in.

Blackwater Digital Services: Cool.

Chris LaFay: And then let me grab the security key for this.

Blackwater Digital Services: So WordPress gonna charge me annually or is my only ongoing cost the hosting?

Chris LaFay: Hosting. And then I thought you were planning on working with Mickey Mellon to do your like security updates and Twitter tweaks and stuff.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, probably.

Chris LaFay: So I know he has two different plans. One is just like security updates and things. The other is all of that plus a handful of like small content tweaks every month. And I want to say Those prices are 189amonth and the other one is like 250 or 300 or something like that. And so that is what if you want him to do that for you. Those are the two ballpark prices. Do not hold me to those. I just don't know his pricing offhand.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: So I talk to him almost every day. You'd think I would know this by now.

Blackwater Digital Services: So when. When. After I transfer everything over to GoDaddy, where do I do in Flywheel to. To make that reflect? I just go to nothing?

Chris LaFay: No, because the domain points to Flywheel. Flywheel doesn't care where your domain is at all. Yeah. So no, there's nothing that you would have to change there.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay.

Chris LaFay: I was gonna find Mickey's pricing. He texted it to me like a week ago. And then I realized there's a lot of. From a week ago.

Blackwater Digital Services: Do not worry about it.

Chris LaFay: There we go. Also, your. There's a couple of. There's two professional plugins on the back end of the site. One is Advanced custom fields, the other is Gravity Forms. Both of those have access keys attached to them. So as long as I'm in business and I'm paying for all of those annual agency level subscriptions, you get updates to all of those. And I've been in business for 20 years. The likelihood, me not having those is very, very, very, very slim. Okay, so that's all in there. So you'll get automatic updates for both of those things. Yoast for SEO is installed as well too. You can have fun with that as much as you'd like. And then when you're done leaving feedback, we can delete the Marker plugin. I will say that I am out of town Wednesday through the weekend,.

Blackwater Digital Services: So.

Chris LaFay: If you want to go and toss in a couple of small little dev tweaks, let me know. Those can get done.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, I'm also going to be out of town, so.

Chris LaFay: Cool.

Blackwater Digital Services: Wednesday through the weekend. Hey. There you go. Hey.

Chris LaFay: This is why we did this today. Yeah, I would.

Blackwater Digital Services: What is Mickey's email address so I can add him? Because I just started typing it. Is it.

Chris LaFay: I got you. It's. It's Mickey at Green Melon. M E L l e n media.com.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay, there it is. Okay, cool, Cool. All right. Well, why is. Why does this keep changing? All right. I think so can I delete this one then? Bubblecom.flywheelsites.com.

Chris LaFay: No, I think you actually, I think you leave that there. That's the backup. I think that's basically like your site id. I know with WP engine you don't delete it, it just doesn't get used, so. And I can go ahead one second.

Blackwater Digital Services: Use. Okay, here we go.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. Okay, so you're good to go there with the domain name transfer. Have patience.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: With it. I don't mean that in a condescending way. I mean that in a domain registrars just don't talk well to one another.

Blackwater Digital Services: Right.

Chris LaFay: And it typically takes longer than you want it to take. So. Perfect.

Blackwater Digital Services: On Ionos transfer. Domain domain transfer.

Chris LaFay: That sounds right. I don't know much about Ionis in general.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, me neither. That's why I'm gonna get rid of it. It was like this is back before, I think WordPress had just started and wasn't even a player yet. So there's all these different options, Squarespace and Word Press and all these different ones and so I chose the wrong one.

Chris LaFay: At least you didn't buy your domain name through and like an agency person or like a, a different company. Like I know so many people that like they bought their domain name through wix.

Blackwater Digital Services: Oh yeah.

Chris LaFay: And it's like at least buy your domain name from like a domain name vendor.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah.

Chris LaFay: Because that way at least it's. It's in its own little spot where it belongs and it's not literally tied to your entire technology stack.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, for sure. That's why I like to have everything in the same place. Even though godad is not the absolute best. It's where everything lives.

Chris LaFay: Yeah. And for me that's name cheap. I have all my domain names at. Namecheap is not the sexiest place in the world, but it's good. So.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah. Alrighty. Well, I guess that's it. I just gotta figure out how to transfer the domain.

Chris LaFay: Easy peasy. Yes. Good luck. God bless with the domain. Thank you. I would recommend doing it in the morning just in case stuff happens so that you don't aren't pulling your hair out and trying to leave the office. I would also recommend doing it at a time where you have the. I. I would recommend doing it next week when you're back, just, just in case something happens. You're not trying to scramble to figure something out before you leave. The likelihood of it bleeding into a couple days is very slim. It's very slim. But there's always a chance.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yep.

Chris LaFay: So I don't think your website will be down for days at a time. That's not what I think. I think that there will be bounces, pings back and forth that need to get answered. That you're like sitting there waiting. So. But okay, that's just my opinion.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, no, that's a good idea. I mean there's no rush on transferring it.

Chris LaFay: Exactly. Cool, man. Well, twas a pleasure. Yeah, we're being fantastically easy to work with. This is a delight. I can knock out a couple more nickel and dime things next week.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, there's no rush on anything I send you.

Chris LaFay: Cool.

Blackwater Digital Services: And I'm gonna. I'm gonna do it all in one pass. So the. The next group of stuff you get for me will be the last things you get from me.

Chris LaFay: Fantastic. Love it. My project manager, operations person, dawn, will probably be sending you over the invoice for the last part of it. She may have done that this morning already. She mentioned it.

Blackwater Digital Services: Yeah, I got it.

Chris LaFay: Sweet. Cool beans, man. Well, have a good rest of the day. If you have any random questions, give me a call if there's something of relative urgency. I don't think there will be, but today and tomorrow I have a decent amount of meetings, so if there's anything that's actually on fire, call me.

Blackwater Digital Services: Okay?

Chris LaFay: Cool.

Blackwater Digital Services: Will do.

Chris LaFay: Awesome, man.

Blackwater Digital Services: Thank you, Chris. Bye. Bye.
