Chris LaFay: It's. It's. Good.
Nathan Ross: Howdy.
Chris LaFay: You having a good day today?
Nathan Ross: Yeah, so far so good. How about you?
Chris LaFay: Fantastic. I spent the first part of the morning at a coffee shop and that is always a lovely thing. I had no meetings in the morning and I was like, you know what, I'm gonna get out of my house for a little while, so. Always a good way to start things off.
Nathan Ross: Yeah, absolutely.
Chris LaFay: Lovely. So let's get down to business here. So I haven't looked through every single one of your. Your tickets yet. I've started glancing through them. I literally just sent you an email. So you can completely ignore that. I definitely wasn't yelling at you for being 60 seconds late. I'm just kidding. Just kidding. There are a couple of things as I click through. There's some content things in here that's fine. The drop shadows on buttons, you're seeing a cached version of the site because that did get jacked up and it got fixed yesterday as I was going through them. That's. Those are gone.
Nathan Ross: I saw that this morning. So.
Chris LaFay: So just, just a heads up, I should mark that as completed. And pretty much everything else is pretty much content oriented. There's a couple of things I'm going to call your attention to. The. There's a couple of tickets in this list of about seven or eight things that talk about like line length. That's. That's hard to judge because every, every browser is going to do things differently. So if your browser window is shorter, that those words are going to wrap more. If your browser windows wider, they're going to wrap less overall. So if there are things that you want to simply have to be shorter by default, let me know what those are. But in terms of enforcing a locked in, this is always a two line thing. That's not possible. Now what I will. What I will say there was one thing that you mentioned of on the single product page, kind of that descriptive paragraph below the product title kind of goes the full length and it's very long. It's like, can we cut the width? That's definitely fine because you're talking about. Yeah, that container being a different size. But we can't lock down the quantity aligns though. So that's kind of the, the jug. The. The two differences of the. Of some of the tickets that you put in. I can adjust the width, but I can't lock in the line quantity.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: Does that sound good? Does that make sense?
Nathan Ross: Yeah, yeah, just whatever you can do.
Chris LaFay: Awesome. That sounds good. In terms of the. The grayscale logos. I am a fan of grayscale logos on. On websites where there's just a wall of logos section just because I feel like it fits more in line with pretty much any color scheme. Is that a hill that I'm gonna die on? No, it's not.
Nathan Ross: Yeah, I mean, I, I just, I. I was just interested in what you thought because I don't know what's better. So I'm fine leaving black and white. I just was interested in your.
Chris LaFay: It's more just of a. It makes them all feel similar rather than looking completely, starkly different from one another. I also did choose logos that were in that library of ones that fit kind of the same the aspect ratios so that they had looked more balanced. So rather than trying. Because when you. The problem with walls of logos, nobody's logos are the same aspect ratio. Some of them are like a football field. Some of them are like a football field turn 90 degrees and you can't make them all feel the same size. Some of them are going to be tiny, some of them are going to be big. So I try. Given that you had a ton of logos to choose from, I tried to pick the ones that were similar in aspect ratios so that the wall of logos looked close enough to similar. So there might be some pages that have a little bit less. And that's for visual balance. At the end of the day, I don't think I included that in my email and I apologize about that.
Nathan Ross: That's okay. What about the section in the about section where it's currently says curated client logo set coming soon. And also the just general question, the starred things with like proven accuracy or our clients on the about page. Is it supposed to be off that to the left and not center?
Chris LaFay: I'm actually gonna make a comment about that. Hold on, give me one second. I'm gonna put a task in about this. I'm doing that right now.
Nathan Ross: Okay. I'm going to make a note about one more thing that I just saw too.
Chris LaFay: Okay, that's fine. Nope, I can do that.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: And create. All right, so that's there. Okay. And then.
Nathan Ross: Do you have a silent mechanical keyboard.
Chris LaFay: That is actually really interesting that you say that I didn't create task. Yes, that is created. Who said that? Who said this to me last time I was on a team as a meeting. That's really interesting. Thank you for saying that. So all that being said. Sorry, let me. Let me back up and actually explain all the thoughts that just went through my head. No, I do not have A silent mechanical keyboard. It is not the loudest one in the world. It's a pretty creamy in terms of like the switches and whatnot that I have, but it definitely makes noise. The reason why what you said caught me off guard is because I was on a meeting yesterday and I was not an active participant in this like eight person meeting. And I'm sitting here typing some notes on some stuff and one of my team members sends me a message is like, hey, mute your freaking microphone. Everybody can hear you typing. So Google Meet has a much better sound removal than Microsoft Teams. That's the takeaway.
Nathan Ross: So yeah, I can hear like little artifacts as you typing, but it sounds like it's being canceled out.
Chris LaFay: No, it is a. It's actually a pretty cheap one. I got it at Micro center for like two, like 100 bucks. And the reason I did is because everything is hot swappable. And the reason, the secondary reason why that was important is because I have two other keyboards right there that are custom made from a friend of mine. One is a Legend of Zelda themed and another one is just black and blue. I love both of them. They're fantastic. But they're both smaller keyboards. So the arrow keys are in very odd places and that's hard to use sometimes. So I wanted a keyboard that I could feel like I could mess with and change out switches and keycaps and all that jazz without messing with something that my friend bought or not bought me but made for me. So it's probably way more information you than you ever wanted to know about my keyboards. But you asked me about something that I really like. So we are okay. So I put in a ticket for the. The misaligned eyebrow as well as the logo set. That'll all be. That'll all be swept. I did download that image of whatever. I forgot the city name. I made a. I may have mentioned that in the email that I sent you. Yeah, you said I'll. I'll add that in. That's not a problem. That'll be going in. And then. Is this the one that you literally just added two minutes ago?
Nathan Ross: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Can we move line breaks improve the. What I'm actually probably going to do on that one is I'm probably going to actually on any of the headers that have just like the. The title with the paragraphs below it is. I'm probably going to make the widths of the paragraph just come in some more.
Nathan Ross: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: So that it's not as. Not as long as I'm also going to add A, some line spacing between the. The two paragraphs. So both of the. There will be two paragraphs there. That's not a problem. It will look. It'll look better with the. Being shorter and also with some spacing between the paragraphs. Okay, I'm gonna make a chum in here. Shorten.
Nathan Ross: Did something happen on the. Now that I'm looking at industries, the same image is used for corporations and employers and hospital systems. I thought we had a different picture for hospital systems.
Chris LaFay: Let's see.
Nathan Ross: Hospital systems, or am I just now noticing this for the first time? It's on the main industries page.
Chris LaFay: I see that.
Nathan Ross: I don't remember seeing that before.
Chris LaFay: Let me make a note of this because they're on the inside of the page. When you actually click in there is the photo of grandpa with, like a nurse standing next to him.
Nathan Ross: Yeah, that's. I think that's what it used to be. Grandpa.
Chris LaFay: Yeah. Okay, let me see here. There's that. Boom. Create. All right, so that's in there now as well.
Nathan Ross: Then.
Chris LaFay: We talked about that already. That's that. Oh, yeah. Showing both of these paragraphs,.
Nathan Ross: I'm wondering if it's worth just nixing the section on all of the industry pages that say three stations that fit this floor, because it's the same on every single page.
Chris LaFay: So you're correct. And that's okay. And that's actually very much needed because people aren't going to jump from industry page to industry page page.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: So it's like I have one service that I offer, web design development. I don't have industry pages because I don't. I don't market in that way. But if I had industry pages, I would still have my pricing table on every single one of those industry pages. Even it feels repetitious because we're inside of it and we're see. We are seeing it everywhere. But people aren't going to use your website like that, though. Okay, so. And if they do, are they. Are they probably going to look at all six. No, they might not. Maybe they. Maybe they're a hospital that is in a university. This is not the best example. So maybe they go to the hospital and the university section and then they see that, oh, it's the same. It's the same products. Cool, great. They're not going to be like, man, those guys copied and pasted some things. Like, it's very. It'd be very rare for that to happen.
Nathan Ross: Okay, perfect.
Chris LaFay: Okay, perfect. All right, so that's done. That's added fantastic typo. Fix the typo. There it goes. Perfect. Okay, I am going to plan to get most of these things knocked out tomorrow. I have to. When we're done here, I'll have to head out the door and go to the gym today. We have a class class that we're going to. These are all fairly. I feel very confident about 90 to 95% of these things. There might be a couple of small little things. They're not going to be major. So the next thing on our list was getting Flywheel Prep to go and pull the website. Right. So are you good to go ahead and push some of the magic buttons on your side? I have not gone through this process before, so I'm kind of curious to see what that looks like.
Nathan Ross: Yeah, I mean, is that something you want me to do right now?
Chris LaFay: Yeah, let's go ahead and do it now. They're not going to copy your website immediately. I'm assuming that once you pay for the Flywheel slot and you select the Migrate my website for me option, they will probably give you like a plugin to install on the website that whenever they're ready, they can then just hop in and grab whatever they want.
Nathan Ross: Okay, let's see.
Chris LaFay: Create a new site. Go ahead and click on the. How many exercise how you like to bring over on the right hand side where it says migrate your site to five wheel for free. Click that. Start here and see. So I've moved my wife. Yep, That's fine. I think you do. I think you. I think you actually said on the. The first screen I thought I saw, it said one of two sites available. Wanna.
Nathan Ross: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Which one? Oh, no. Results found.
Nathan Ross: Weird.
Chris LaFay: Okay, all right, cool. So we will have to go. So we need to go back and actually create the site then. So let's go back. Sorry about that. I just don't want you to create a new site, get it blocked off and then have to actually do it somewhere different.
Nathan Ross: Our plan, one of two sites used. So I think. Yeah, I think I paid for it. I just haven't created it yet.
Chris LaFay: Fantastic. Let's go ahead and click on that. Give it a site name. That's all fine and dandy. Just make sure you remember what that. Actually, you probably won't need to remember what that is.
Nathan Ross: Something went wrong.
Chris LaFay: Oh, you just can't use the word admin as your username. So do. Do like Nathan Ross. All lowercase.
Nathan Ross: That's weird because that is my. Oh, yeah. I guess on my current site it's just Nathan.
Chris LaFay: In general, within a lot of content management Systems. The word admin is just a locked off word. You just can't use it in a lot of places. So we're going to wait here for a second. This typically takes about two or three minutes.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: Oh, maybe not. Go ahead and say move my site for me. I'd like help. Maybe it'll now give us an option. Free. Yes. There we go. Public on. Perfect. Awesome use. Include a copy side in a database with SQL format. That's. I could definitely do that. This is multi site. Go ahead and say yes to the backup you would like to use for this migration. Oh, okay, cool. You just profiles over two gigs. Great. Okay, so can you upload? Yeah. Okay, you can upload. Include a couple of your sites and so. Okay, fantastic. Keep on scrolling to current site URL. So that's gonna be a WP engine URL. That's fine. We're actually not going to fill any of this out right now.
Nathan Ross: So.
Chris LaFay: Current side URL. Okay, this is multi site network. No important directories in the root. No, there's not. Okay, that's all fine. Keep on scrolling down.
Nathan Ross: Do I. I don't need to fill this out right now. The current.
Chris LaFay: Because I, I don't have those files to give you. So I'll. I'll come back and explain what we're going to do in a second. Keep on scrolling down for me. So username password, that'll make sense. I understand that. Additional host information. I don't think they need that. Keep on going down. Any other instructions? Got me precise. Okay. Okay, so I understand this. I figured that when we click this button we were gonna have to actually do some magic. Basically what they're gonna do is I'm gonna run through all of these changes that we just talked about with about these like about 12 or 15 different tickets in here. Gonna go through all of them. I am then going to save a zip file that have. Has all the things that they need in it. I'm gonna then put that into a Google Drive folder because I can't email you a multi gigabyte file. That's bad. There'll be a link for you to download that zip file. You're gonna come right back here and you're going to go through the same process. I'm going to walk you through now what you're going to do. So that browse files button, you'll upload that zip file. So you'll find the zip file you downloaded. You toss it up there. The URL is the URL of the site that you've been looking at. So it's like publicom.wpenginepower.com these checkboxes. No, it's not multi site. No, there's no important directories, site details. All of this stuff stays the same. So your admin URL stays the same. I will, I will add a username and password that you can then put in those boxes and I will include that in the email that I sent to you. So you just copy and paste it. These things don't matter. They're all marked. So there's a stuff that's under additional information. They're all marked optional. They don't need any of that information at all. And then you'll click on the big yellow move my site button and then they'll send you an email when it's done.
Nathan Ross: And then we also need to update the DNS stuff.
Chris LaFay: Yeah. So this, that's what our meeting on Monday is for.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: So I will get this stuff over to you tomorrow. So do you feel confident with pushing those buttons tomorrow?
Nathan Ross: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Sweet. When you're done pushing those buttons, you click move my site. I'm assuming you will get some kind of an email or a confirmation message. Just forward me the confirmation message. Or if you don't get a forward, you don't get an email. Just take a screenshot of the thanks for doing this and just shoot me the email with it. Just so. It's just I like to know things, that's all. And then within three days they should have it all ready to go. And then on Monday when we meet, we'll then swap the DNS and be ready to rock and roll. Does that sound good?
Nathan Ross: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: Awesome. If you have any questions tomorrow when I send that over to you, call me. I'm gonna actually, honestly, I'm going to do it. I'm actually gonna do it tonight because tomorrow between like noon and six, I'm gonna be out of pocket. So I'm actually gonna do all of this stuff tonight and get it sent over to you tonight. Okay. So if you could, do you have the ability tomorrow morning to push those buttons? Awesome. So if you have any questions about pushing them, if something weird happens or whatnot, call myself.
Nathan Ross: Okay.
Chris LaFay: Don't email me because I will not see it until later. Does that sound good?
Nathan Ross: Yep, all good.
Chris LaFay: Fantastic.
Nathan Ross: Perfect.
Chris LaFay: Well, I'll get to work on these here shortly after I get back tonight. Once I get them done, I'll hit you up and I'll let you know of any differences, like if there's anything in your tickets that I decided not to do. I'll give you the reason for that, and you'll have everything you need in your inbox when you wake up tomorrow morning.
Nathan Ross: Sounds good.
Chris LaFay: Awesome.
Nathan Ross: Thanks, Chris.
Chris LaFay: Thank you so much, man. Have a good rest of the day.
Nathan Ross: You do. Bye.
Chris LaFay: Bye.
