Meeting
Sherman & Phalen :: Homepage Review
Gist
Chris walked Sherman Phalen (David Sherman, William Phalen, Rebecca P., with Brooke Desmond) through the new homepage design, explaining the paper texture, dark green/tan/gold palette, subtle gradients, hand-drawn dividers, and the gray-green photo filter applied across the site. The team responded very positively, especially to the filter making stock photos feel cohesive and less generic, and agreed team headshots on a dedicated bio page might stay in color. Next meeting set for August 3rd to review the remaining pages before their August 11th photo shoot, targeting a launch around early September.

What came out of it
Decisions6
- Kept the dark green/tan/gold color filter applied to all site photography
- Blue used only as secondary call-to-action color, not primary background
- Will use stock photography for the 'who we serve' section rather than staff photos
- Team headshots on individual bio pages may remain in full color rather than filtered
- Earnest money link will go in the footer instead of the main navigation
- Rebecca will continue publishing new blog posts on the current site until launch, to be re-imported later
Risks and blockers4
- Mobile layout still has spacing/overflow issues that need fixing
- CRM-embedded form cannot be fully styled to match the rest of the site
- Uncertainty on turnaround time for edited photos from the August 11th photo shoot
- Some existing blog posts may need to be deleted or redirected and list wasn't finalized
Open questions3
- Whether headshot/bio pages should use color or the filtered treatment
- How the photographer's turnaround time will affect final photo swap timing
- Which blog posts on the current site need deletion or redirects
Next steps7
