Meeting

BLDR Corp - Current

Chris walked Rebecca Galuppo through a first-draft 7-page layout for the BLDR/TexBuilt site, using AI-generated placeholder content pulled from EMJ and competitor sites as a wireframe substitute. They went page by page tweaking hero treatment, careers page layout, and employee-owned messaging, and agreed on a feedback workflow using screenshot/comment tickets. Rebecca needs to input all content and image feedback by Friday May 8th to hit a June 1st launch, and separately needs to get WP Engine hosting and IT set up in-house rather than relying on their outside contractor.

What came out of it
Decisions6
  • Drop the white text box on the hero and center-align the title with a one-line subhead instead
  • Consolidate subcontractor pages into a single page
  • Swap the careers page layout so the intro text sits above the fold with photo placement changed to right-aligned
  • Use bullet-point hyperlinks instead of full buttons for career audience segments
  • Move to WP Engine managed hosting under BLDR's own account rather than continuing with the outside IT contractor
  • Reduce the leadership page or fold it into another page and prioritize team photos
Risks and blockers4
  • Border widths and other shared programmatic elements limit ability to make certain micro-adjustments per page
  • HR portal may not be able to track which applicant segment link was clicked, limiting the planned career page tracking
  • IT contractor is described as resistant/bitter about losing the hosting business, creating friction during transition
  • EMJ site will likely need more unique branding separate from Texas identity given national footprint plans
Open questions3
  • Can BLDR's HR system generate distinct tracking links for each career applicant segment (student, military, etc.)?
  • Will leadership page be merged into the who-we-are page or kept standalone?
  • What will the final specs/dimensions be for the team photo shoot?
Next steps6

  • ClientInput all content and image feedback via the screenshot/comment tool by Friday May 8th

  • ClientGet IT to finalize WP Engine hosting account setup
  • ClientConfirm with Oracle/HR system provider whether distinct application tracking links are possible
  • MeBuild out portfolio pages in the next design round
