Chris LaFay: Good morning. Good morning. It. Hey. Howdy. Howdy. How's your morning been starting off?
Dawn Audano: It's good. We had a parent teacher conference, so I got home from that.
Chris LaFay: You're already like, it was like, at 8:00'. Clock.
Dawn Audano: Is it 7:45?
Chris LaFay: Oh, shoot. Okay. Dang.
Dawn Audano: Yeah, so we did. We did one before school. Like, they only have a couple of spots, usually before school, but I try to grab them, so. Because otherwise they get home at 1 anyway, so my day's cut short. Might as well get them there.
Chris LaFay: Man, that's early. Do you like their teachers this year?
Dawn Audano: Yeah. Laurel's teacher. I really like Laurel's teacher. I'm kind of bummed that it took us till fifth grade to get a teacher that I legit liked, but her teacher is really good. And then Ainsley's teacher. Ainsley's teacher is nice, too. I'm not. I don't have any issues with her teacher. I'm just. I like Laurel's teacher more like Laurel's teacher is like just a human. I enjoy.
Chris LaFay: Yeah, it works. Have either of them had any teachers to where they're like, this person's the bomb? Like, I had in middle school, obviously. I had my one teacher that I was like, I'm gonna keep in touch with you for the rest of my life. Have they had that type of a teacher yet?
Dawn Audano: I mean, like, they actually had some really solid teachers early on, but that's cool. Nothing sense.
Chris LaFay: Hello. Good morning.
Annalynne Talbert: I'm good. How are you guys?
Dawn Audano: Good. Did you ever have any teachers that you felt like you should stay in touch with after elementary or middle or high school?
Annalynne Talbert: Yeah, I have some teachers that I love, and when I go to my hometown, sometimes I bump into them, and it's so cool.
Chris LaFay: That's awesome.
Dawn Audano: What grade were they?
Annalynne Talbert: I really loved my seventh grade teacher, and that's actually the one I see a lot. She like. She, like, does, like, downtown stuff in my hometown. She's cool,
Lydia Rosenberg: but.
Dawn Audano: Yeah. Nice.
Lydia Rosenberg: Hey, Lydia.
Dawn Audano: Good morning. How's it going? Pretty good.
Lydia Rosenberg: How are you guys?
Dawn Audano: So far, so good. Made it to Tuesday.
Lydia Rosenberg: Longest week.
Dawn Audano: I know. I was on a call yesterday and someone was like, well, it's Monday. And I was like, no, it's not definitely Monday.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah. And I just. I apologize a little bit in advance. I'm not feeling great. So I'm sorry if I'm not my normal chipper self. It is no reflection on y'.
Dawn Audano: All.
Lydia Rosenberg: I'm very excited, but I just know that it can be quite obvious when I am a little off So I sometimes just have to just say what it is. Just call it what it is.
Chris LaFay: You put the bar up so high that I know.
Lydia Rosenberg: Like, yeah, I know my. I've. I've been told that before, like, in other jobs, whatever. Like, it is so obvious when I'm, like, not feeling well or in a bad mood or whatever, and I'm like, I should stop being so happy all the time. I'm just kidding.
Chris LaFay: My. A couple of weeks ago, somebody I. It. It takes a lot to get me any level of irritated. Like, I. I don's been working with me for a long time. She probably seen me, like, legitimately irritated, like, three times in 10 years. I was irritated a couple of weeks ago at somebody, and my wife had to come up to me and, like, grab my shoulders and be like, stop doing whatever you're doing. Yeah. I'm like, what did I do? She's like, you threw an iPad. I'm like, I didn't throw an iPad. It fell off a table. That was unintentional.
Lydia Rosenberg: That was not what.
Chris LaFay: I was not what was happening. So, yeah. Yes. I'm, like, getting upset easy.
Lydia Rosenberg: As everybody knows, I'm currently sipping on biolight and bone broth, so that's the. Trying to get electrolytes and. And sodium. I'm. Yeah. So we're. We're gonna be okay, but this week is, like, a very, very, very long week.
Dawn Audano: Yeah.
Lydia Rosenberg: I mean, I'm open about stuff, but so Michael and I are going through ivf, and I'm doing all the IVF injections right now, and it fucking sucks. So just being honest, like, it is not for the faint of heart. I am, like. And I'm not even, like, in the thick of it yet. Like, I've heard that I'm only on day. Like, tonight will be the fourth night of injections, and I've heard starting tomorrow. And because we do it for anywhere from nine to 14 days, and so.
Annalynne Talbert: Oh, man.
Lydia Rosenberg: Like, I'm, like, shaky. Like, I'm, like, all. Like, I'm all out of whack. So we'll take.
Dawn Audano: We'll take the website at least off your plate right now. How's that sound?
Chris LaFay: Yeah.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah, well, like. But I'm excited. Like, I need distractions and things to be excited about. But it's a good thing. It's just.
Annalynne Talbert: It's like. Hurts. Hurts so good.
Lydia Rosenberg: And, dude, y'.
Chris LaFay: All.
Lydia Rosenberg: Like, I don't know if anyone's done, like, egg retrieval stuff or whatever. I mean, I'm not a shots girl. I'm not A needle girl. I'm not any of this. And Michael is like, my ner is my nurse. Because you literally, like, he's like, having to, like, mix drugs because it's like, they come like, in sep. Separate, and then you have to, like, take syringes and, like, mix it and then. And I'm like, that's on you. Like, that's you, like, you got that? And then I like, have to, like, watch, like, ASMR videos on Tick Tock when he gives me my shots, and they're just, like, brutal about it because I'm like, this is just like, I can't believe, like, we do this. But this is, you know, medicine and science is remarkable. So that's good.
Chris LaFay: Especially so that, like, there's enough, the, the knowledge around that type of stuff is, I'm gonna call it, safe enough to allow regular humans to con. Do the concoction and to then administrate it as well, too.
Lydia Rosenberg: I know. I was like, are you allowed? Like, why are we allowed to do this?
Chris LaFay: Right?
Lydia Rosenberg: It's like, make sure there's no air bubbles. And I'm like, or else what? Like, because I'm not. We're not nurses.
Dawn Audano: Define air bubble, please.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah. Like, what happens if there's an air bubble? Am I gonna die? Like, what's going on here? But, yeah, I would not. It's like, clearly it's safe enough that they're like, a random person can do this in their dining room. Like, it's just ridiculous.
Chris LaFay: Trust in humanity when it comes to that. I, I, I just, there's, I feel like I'm a relatively smart human being and I know the levels of some other human beings, and it blows my mind how, like, some humans have survived adulthood in general, much less doing the things like what you're doing.
Lydia Rosenberg: Well, it's how I feel like doing taxes or dealing with health insurance. I'm like, I'm a pretty smart person. Like, I went to college, right? You know, like, I, I, I think I'm pretty with it. And taxes and health insurance make me feel very dumb. So. Yes, yes, all right. I know. I digress. I've been talking about this, but I appreciate y', all, and you guys are won.
Dawn Audano: I appreciate you, Sharon. I, I like it. It helps us at least know where everybody's kind of coming at the conversation from.
Lydia Rosenberg: Exactly.
Dawn Audano: It's not just a cold. It's like, not feeling well. Plus insanity and all of this other stuff.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah. Yeah.
Dawn Audano: But I think, I hope, I hope it is worth it. I hope.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yes.
Dawn Audano: When you have all your process. It's. You're like, oh, you know what? That was really painful and. Or really uncomfortable or really weird, because my husband is. Has a degree in not nursing, I'm assuming. So you'll look back on it in 10 years and be like, man, that was interesting.
Lydia Rosenberg: He's doing great, though. Like, if I had to trust anyone to do it, it would be Michael. You know, like, he's like. He's a. He's a perfectionist.
Annalynne Talbert: Yeah.
Lydia Rosenberg: He's like, if there's no. They say no bubbles, like, they're not going to be a single bubble in here. He is, like, flicking the. The syringe. Yes.
Dawn Audano: That's exactly how my husband is. He's like, I'm gonna do this to the nth degree.
Lydia Rosenberg: He watched, like, YouTube videos, like, four times. He was like, wait. And he's, like, pausing it and like, you know, Analyn. You know, Michael. Like, I mean, y'. All. But, like, that's just.
Annalynne Talbert: Yeah, I think you're in great hands doing this.
Lydia Rosenberg: And then he feeds me a piece of chocolate afterwards. Cause I'm like, like, like.
Chris LaFay: I'm like, positive reinforcement.
Dawn Audano: Yeah.
Lydia Rosenberg: I'm like, I need a pavlok. Because, like, there's one yawn. There's this one shot. It burns like, holy hell. Like, it is so insane. It's so painful. And apparently I looked it up, and it's like, the faster you injected, the worse it is. So now you have to inject this shot for, like, over a minute, and I'm just like, like.
Dawn Audano: And.
Lydia Rosenberg: And then afterwards, I'm like, chocolate? Oh, my God.
Annalynne Talbert: That's torture.
Lydia Rosenberg: I saw some people, they injected it over, like, five minutes because that's how they make it not burn. And I'm like, can't be me. I can't have do it. All right, all right, all right. Eight minutes of me talking about this. I think I appreciate y'.
Chris LaFay: All.
Lydia Rosenberg: We can move into your actual agenda.
Dawn Audano: Well, I had two items on my agenda today. The first one was just to tell you how appreciative I am for you. Turn around all those content requests last week, so we have everything we need at this point moving forward. I also had on my agenda to discuss hosting and DNS, but Chris confirmed that you guys are on WP engine and that we have access to that, so we're actually good to go there. And then the other thing I just wanted to go over today was because we haven't talked in a couple of weeks. I just kind of want to get you to see what we've been working on. So Chris is going to do a little showcase of where we are in our development, what we've built out and kind of where we stand, and then we'll talk about, like, next steps. Real clear. I know Chris dropped this in his message. This is not a QA session. This is not a moment for you to be like, oh, does it do this? Does it do that? This is just a, hey, look what we've done. Just so you know that we haven't been sitting on our hands for two weeks. The designs approved. So I'll let Chris take over and kind of show what we have and what we're doing, kind of where we're going.
Lydia Rosenberg: Amazing. We're excited. And also, Landon Landon wishes he could be here. She had a. An impromptu doctor's appointment, so she. So she is sorry that she couldn't be here, but she wishes she was.
Chris LaFay: No worries at all. So we are in the quiet phase. As dawn had mentioned of the work, this is where it feels like nothing is happening, but there's a lot happening behind the scenes. So this is your block library. Now, one thing that you will see in here, we have a handful of building blocks that we just add in because we have them developed already. They're part of our starting theme. We're not going to do a lot of QA on those when QA does come into it. But basically you get more stuff than what we designed, and more is, in general better when it comes to this.
Lydia Rosenberg: Great.
Chris LaFay: So we have here. This is. This is going to be what your block library page looks like. So this is kind of where this is going to be like your table of contents that when you're building new pages, this is kind of where you'll live. So we have a sampling of all the different headings from 1 through 6. We have a sampling of all the font sizes, and all these things are controllable. In the back end of WordPress, we have what our hyperlinks are going to be looking like. Here we have our standard blocks. I'm sorry, blocks. Our standard bullets, as well as what that looks like when you do the little green check boxes as well. Very simple little block quote there. We designed out a separator that uses the dots. This will be kind of like when you put a horizontal rule there. I don't know why. These were actually small, medium, and large prior, so that one's a little bit new. But anyway, these are going to be small, medium, and large. Must have been some code that got overwritten. This is Going to be our case studies block. And yes, it has all the dynamic stuff that we talked about. So if there's no video it. There is no video. It is going to pull from your case studies page. And again, case studies and projects are one to one here. It's the same. It's the same thing. Word. So these do dynamically pull from the back end of your website. So you don't have to do duplicative entry. You have the ability. If you, if you put a video embed in this will then pop up and then play said video. You can also. At the whole block level, you can also toggle off the view project. So if you know in this slider that you're only going to put things with videos in them and you don't want to actually go and view the project, you don't have to.
Lydia Rosenberg: Great. So like on the homepage, right? Or like if that's what we want to do. Okay, amazing. Love that.
Chris LaFay: So this is what I went over with Michael. The one addition that we did make here was because from an accessibility standpoint you want to have. You want to have something visual to showcase what the action is going to be. So in. We talked in design to take off the play button. But we needed to have something there to be like if you click this, a video is going to start playing. So we tried to make that very subtle so that it wasn't. So if you hover on it, you noticed it, but it didn't distract from the image as well.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah, I like that better.
Chris LaFay: We have our testimonials thing. We added a little bit of motion there. That's fun with that. And we also then have our icon pods here. These things can go light or dark mode. We have our horizontal orientation as well. Little extra block for stats encounters. Just has the alternative font with the basic stuff right below it. And then we also have a pricing table as well too that you can type in whatever you want. Like in Microsoft Word. Right down there we have a stackable block which there's nothing showcased here will be down below. But this is where you can then stack things on top of one another. So this is kind of a block that acts as a container and then anything inside of it will then do the stacking. The floating image block, this is where you guys will be able to add a lot of texture to the site long term. This little gradient, which I don't read into the gradient, it's a random image that, that we created. You can then float a transparent PNG or a gif at either the left edge or the right edge or right in the middle, and it goes either above or below content. So you can add just like little texture pieces all the way down the page if you want.
Lydia Rosenberg: Great.
Chris LaFay: We have our FAQs block right here that connects in with Yoast. The only thing that the. What matters for that with you guys is just the simple fact that Yoast is a very popular SEO plugin that everybody uses. Then we have some of our patterns, which. These are 100% Gutenberg and drag and drop. So we have our thin call to action. And yes, the background color and the text color can be changed on those. We have a medium call to action. And then you can actually see the floating image working here as well. So when you add these floating images, this is kind of where I was aware. You have to be context aware. So this image, as it was created is taller than its container. So you just have to know you have some flexibility here, but you have to understand what that flexibility looks like.
Lydia Rosenberg: Okay.
Chris LaFay: As well. Because we're not going to put any. If we put constraints on it, things are not going to look like you probably expect them to. So we'd rather give you less constraints with. Given that you guys have graphic design knowledge of how things. Yeah. So we have our medium call to action there. Yes, these columns can be flipped and yes, the background colors can be changed. We have another Hero section. This was called the Split Hero. Kind of does exactly what it says it does there. We have another Hero section where we just have a large title with an image. And then we have our Mega Mega Hero. This is the one that's going to do a lot of the heavy lifting for you guys. This guy here does pretty much everything you need in one single block. And rather than what I'm actually going to do is I'm actually going to show you this here. So this is one of these custom blocks where you just have options to choose from. So what you can do is within this Hero section, you can choose whether you want it to go full height. Actually, actually, I'm going to do this over here. So ignore the fact that in the back end here, the. The view of this is going to be a little bit different because it's in editing mode. You can make it go full height, you can make it go tall, which will give you some space up there, or you can go narrow, which will kind of like that. That one of those Hero sections that you had before. You can make the text inside of it go left, center, or right. I don't really know why you would do. Right. But it's there as an option.
Lydia Rosenberg: Just in case.
Chris LaFay: Just in case. And then you can also align it vertically to the top, the middle or the bottom.
Dawn Audano: Cool.
Chris LaFay: And with all that said, you have a background to where you can choose a background color from your list of custom colors that are inside of your theme. You can then change the opacity of it. You can add a background image. You can align the image to kind of where do you want the focal point to be, what kind of corner? And then you also have the ability to upload MP4 file as a video.
Annalynne Talbert: Cool.
Lydia Rosenberg: So if we wanted to do. Just so I'm understanding. So basically what we're seeing right now, what you're showing me is basically like our main homepage Hero. But if we want to use a Hero, but maybe we wanted to not to be the full length, but we want to be tall for like a different page, but have a different video playing, we could do that and we could like make all these adjustments 100%.
Chris LaFay: Yes.
Lydia Rosenberg: Okay, cool.
Chris LaFay: So like that, this is. This, this arrangement right here is probably going to be your most common arrangement because you, you'll probably end up using tall the most because you need a little bit of space for your navigation bar at the top.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: And then the great thing, also the other great thing is everything inside of this is all just drag and drop blocks. You have your header, one tag, a paragraph and button. So you could add two paragraphs. You could do whatever you want really.
Lydia Rosenberg: Or if we didn't want to have a button, we could get rid of the button.
Chris LaFay: You could get rid of the button.
Lydia Rosenberg: Cool.
Chris LaFay: The hard stuff is easy, so meaning like the alignment and getting every. The heights and all that jazz. Like getting all the hard stuff is simple with little toggle switches.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: The simple stuff is also easy because now you can then edit the contents however you'd like.
Lydia Rosenberg: So amazing.
Chris LaFay: That was going to be easier to show in the back end than the front end. But this is your uber flexible block. And also for accessibility, we needed to have a physical button to toggle. But you don't have to click it. Hear this? But it is actually playing the audio in the background.
Lydia Rosenberg: Oh cool.
Chris LaFay: I just got it blasted in my eardrum. So if I can't hear you, I'm sorry. We have our basic image columns here. These just simple columns, blocks with images, headers and buttons. These are all fully editable. Now here is where we have our little stack thing that. So I note here that these are all contained inside of a stackable container block. And then these will stack with a little bit of. A little bit of edge to them right there. Fun. Then. And then we have a little bit of extra space right there between the, between the navigation bar. And then they stack and then they move, they move up. And yes, all of these are. The contents inside of these are all completely customizable. So basically you drop a group onto a page and you call it a window. And inside of that group you can drag whatever building blocks you want. So this is simply just a two column layout with an eyebrow text and one column and a video embed in another. So do whatever you want to with those.
Lydia Rosenberg: Just as a curiosity, because I see you have something that's embedded from YouTube. Could it be something where you uploaded a video, like an MP 400%?
Chris LaFay: Yeah.
Lydia Rosenberg: Okay, great. Yep, I figured as much. But I just want to.
Chris LaFay: Nope, totally, totally get it. And that right there. And then we also have our navigation bar. It has a little bit. You're not gonna be able to tell on. On probably on a screen share, but it does have a little bit of the blur behind it.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah, I see it.
Chris LaFay: And then we also have our hover effects, which has the same kind of. The blur wasn't working with this one. So we went translucent for. I don't know why it wasn't, but we spent a couple of hours trying to get. I spent a couple of hours trying to get the freaking blur to do what it should do. And it wasn't. But we went translucent with the same level of opacity. And so we have that there. So yeah, those, These are the building blocks that you will have at your disposal. So we're kind of in the. Kind of at the. Probably at 90%, give or take here. We have some, you know, we have to edit this margin here to line up with the navigation bar. We have these carousels.
Lydia Rosenberg: You already know, Chris.
Chris LaFay: Oh, yeah, no, trust me.
Lydia Rosenberg: No, I'm not saying anything because it's not QA time.
Chris LaFay: And we got a couple of things on mobile. We got to make sure that things scroll well on mobile devices and stuff like that. But outside of those things, we, I think we're pretty. We're. It's the last 15 of development that's the, the most annoying. It's the, the tiny little details.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah, this is really exciting.
Chris LaFay: Yes.
Annalynne Talbert: Yeah, it looks so good.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: So, and then once we're done with that, we're going to build out some of the initial pages for you guys to then QA to test around with and then we'll be good to go. So we're, we're getting here to the. To the end, which is exciting. Needless to say.
Lydia Rosenberg: Very exciting. This is, this is great.
Annalynne Talbert: Yeah. Our website is getting a major glow up.
Chris LaFay: Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. And it's going to be simple to manage and edit.
Lydia Rosenberg: That's what I'm excited about too. I feel like it's like the glow up is important and great, but it's also the being able to edit works, edit and evolve and grow and kind of do that without the fear of breaking the entire website, I think is going to be key.
Chris LaFay: Yes. Awesome. Any questions for you guys right now?
Lydia Rosenberg: I don't think so.
Annalynne Talbert: We usually have like our little meetings on Wednesday internally that we go over like all of the fine detail things.
Lydia Rosenberg: Yeah. I don't know if we. When do you anticipate being able to share the next. Whatever the next, next iteration is that we then do QA on?
Chris LaFay: I know. Yeah. So Samson did finished up a lot of this stuff yesterday. He took it from me. He went from 60 to 85 over the last.
Lydia Rosenberg: Wow.
Chris LaFay: And so I need to get with him on what his availability is the rest of the week.
Dawn Audano: Yeah.
Chris LaFay: There's no like general assumption is next Tuesday we'll have some content in for some key pages with the block library finalized and have. And we'll probably have time to then also do like mobile testing and all that jazz with everything. So great assumption will be next week without me talking to the person who's going to be doing the work. So.
Lydia Rosenberg: And if that changes, that's fine. It's just, it's more like what Annalyn said. We kind of have this like standing meeting on Wednesdays now and we've just been canceling it if there's nothing to review. So like we'll just keep doing that and we'll be ready to, to, to review when you guys are ready to share it. So we're excited.
Chris LaFay: That sounds good. Don will connect with him on. Don will connect with him this week and we'll, we'll get you what that final, final date will be.
Lydia Rosenberg: So amazing. Thanks everyone.
Chris LaFay: Yes. Very excited.
Dawn Audano: Yes.
Annalynne Talbert: So exciting.
Chris LaFay: Yes. Awesome. Well, I hope you guys have a wonderful. Actually, before I say all that, is there anything else that you guys have or Don that you have that you wanted to go over today?
Dawn Audano: All good.
Chris LaFay: Fantastic. Well, enjoy your Tuesday.
Dawn Audano: Thanks.
Lydia Rosenberg: Cheers.
Chris LaFay: Bye.
Lydia Rosenberg: Bye. Bye. Have a great day everyone.
