Meeting
Apex Trading - Current
Gist
Migrated the Apex Trading website from Classic City's WP engine account into Apex Trading's own WP engine account, live in front of Chris Hudson (client DNS/dev) and Andrew Bernhardt (SEO). Had to run a database search-and-replace to fix leftover staging URLs, coordinate A record and CNAME DNS changes in Route 53, and troubleshoot inconsistent domain propagation between the live domain and the WP engine default URL. Ended by setting www as the enforced primary/canonical domain for SEO continuity and confirming the site was live and stable with Rob Fess able to log in and manage backups going forward.

What came out of it
Decisions2
- Set the www version of the domain as the primary/canonical domain for SEO continuity
- Use CNAME/A record combination in Route 53 rather than the exact recommended WP engine setup, per Chris Hudson's judgment
Risks and blockers2
- Some pages were intermittently resolving to the WP engine staging URL instead of the live domain, indicating incomplete propagation or missed search-and-replace entries
- SSL certificate was still provisioning, causing temporary not-secure warnings
Next steps4
- MeConfirm full propagation of www as primary domain and canonical tags across all pages
- VendorMonitor GA4 for real-time traffic to confirm the new site is fully live and tracking correctly
- ClientRob Fess to log in going forward at ApexTrading.com/wp-admin using existing credentials
- MeReach out via Slack if further DNS or WP engine issues arise
A record of what was agreed, not a task list — nothing here was scheduled.
