Consume Media - Part 1.m4a
Kicked off the Consume Media website redesign with Lydia and Leo, walking through the project roadmap (sitemap, wireframes, design, homepage/block library, dev, migration, training, launch) and doing deep discovery on their business, positioning, and product lineup (goal-based strategies, next-gen thought leadership, interactive video, organic social at scale). Big open debate emerged around information architecture: the current solutions page leads with strategy/packages when most prospects arrive wanting a specific video type, so the group leaned toward restructuring navigation around a simpler 'shop by project type vs. shop by strategy' model with no mega-menu. Also discussed blog migration (only 15-20 best Divi blog posts will be manually moved rather than migrated automatically) and debated how transparent to be about tiered pricing on the site. Session paused for a food break with plans to continue working on the sitemap directly afterward.
- Blog content will not be auto-migrated from Divi; client will manually select 15-20 best-performing blog posts to move over
- Project data will be bulk-imported via an AI-based import process rather than manual entry
- The live site will be copied to a staging environment on WP Engine before going live so nothing is lost
- New client-facing website language will not use internal terms like 'new product offerings'; product newness will be downplayed on the public site
- Testimonial and thought-leadership style products will get more locked-in, transparent tiered pricing while more custom/creative offerings (like animated explainers) will stay more open-ended
- Current solutions page structure doesn't match how prospects actually think, potentially causing confusion and higher bounce
- Divi blog HTML can't be cleanly migrated to standard HTML, risking messy content if force-migrated
- Publishing detailed tiered pricing risks anchoring clients to a low number if the final quote comes in higher
- Website navigation risks becoming an unwieldy 'mega menu' if too many product/strategy categories are added
- Should authentic/cinematic/animated video styles be explained on the website or kept as an internal sales framing tool?
- Where should the goal-based strategy content live in the new sitemap (its own section vs. folded into About)?
- Should pricing tiers (bronze/silver/gold) be shown for every product type, or only for simpler, standardized offerings?
- What should the actual navigation bar items be, and will there be dropdowns at all?
- Is 'video marketing' an outdated term the company should rebrand away from (e.g. toward 'video connection')?
- MeReconvene after the lunch break to continue brainstorming the sitemap and navigation structure
- ClientPick 15-20 best blog posts to migrate to the new site
- MeMove into wireframe walkthrough for the five core pages once sitemap direction is settled
