What did I accomplish today?

Kelly Kannwischer's Website — Code Delivery

Wrote some code for Kelly Kannwischer's website. Good practice utilizing AI for coding — was able to get it uploaded and get her everything she needed to move on. Efficient use of time. Actually started some of it Sunday night while playing D&D, which was a nice bit of multitasking.

Primo — Building Blocks Approved

Primo gave approval on the general design direction for the building blocks. Green light to move forward.

AiresTech — Discovery + Blog Post Design

Andrew Booth hosted a discovery meeting with the AiresTech folks, and it went really well. We already have a slew of tasks to start working on. I went ahead and designed a single blog post page, which was extraordinarily simple to do.

Gym + Hello Fresh with Allie

Allie and I went to the gym today, and we got our first Hello Fresh delivery again. Cooked dinner together and watched an episode of Make Some Noise on Dropout.

D&D Campaign Tracker App

Spent a couple hours after dinner working on my D&D campaign tracker app — it's almost done. Just need to get a couple more images loaded up. Pretty excited about the whole concept of DM switching throughout the campaign. Want to come up with ideas for how to proactively take over the DM seat when something happens.

How did you feel about today?

Last night was a super late night because Daisy decided to stay awake — thunderstorms kept her up. Basically ran today on about 5 hours of sleep, which was definitely not ideal. I'm just glad I simply made it through the day.

Work-wise, I feel fairly accomplished. One thing I realized is that I have no idea how to keep track of the things I need to do. No matter what to-do list app or structure I use, I can never seem to get focused. I even built a to-do thing into the finance app (which is obviously becoming more like a company dashboard), but it feels too cumbersome. I don't think I'm actually going to use that. Trying to go back to Sunsama again and have that be my repository for everything I need to accomplish.

What did I learn today?

Work stuff is slowly becoming a little bit easier to deal with. I have a handful of projects I need to get out and quote, which I'm grateful for. I also have a couple of projects sitting over my head because I don't know how to finish them.

Consume Media and Primo — both don't have too much work left, but they're things I need to finish. The thing I'm learning through all of this is that I'm not great at putting the finishing touches on things. I don't know if junior team members can pick up the ball where I left off and actually get it across the finish line.

Ideas

• Remove the to-do list from the company dashboard app — it's adding complexity without getting used. Keep Sunsama as the single source of truth for tasks.

Questions

Why is it challenging to finish projects?

I think a lot of it has to boil down to the monotony of it. All the creation and the setup, and all that kind of fun stuff, is the easy part for me. When it comes down to actually using the various different tools that I create, that part is not fun. This is seen time and time again within pretty much every single aspect of my life. There has to be something that is extraordinarily unique and very much brand new for me to be able to take something from the start to the finish.
