The final day with Anil Gupta
Coffee and bagels
- Grabbed a bacon egg and cheese bagel from Bethesda Bagels
- Coffee at Lightning Coffee
WeWork Conference Room
This one was actually comfortable and quiet.
- Simple retainers (just white-labeling GreenMellen - don't overthink it)
- I walked Anil through all of my AI tools (Full Studio, Claude Code website builds using my system, a bit of Leo)
- I also walked Anil through the dynamic QA process that I do with Marker.io
Tacos
We went to go get tacos in Georgetown and sat upstairs. We discussed a lot about our personal travel styles (Anil still wakes up at 4AM to see the sunrise and get exercise in). He likes the idea of being able to travel to a new location in the US for a month and see how it feels.
CapitalOne Cafe
These actually exist in real life. They aren't just in commercials. We spent ten minutes brainstorming ideas if our companies disappeared
- Telling interesting stories: I mentioned things like Humans of New York and Post Secret. I like the idea of telling stories of individuals (no matter their lack of fame) and really understanding the people in my community. Anil brought up the Board Walks from Austin (5 mile walk, and just conversations)
- Accounting AI: Can we create a pair of AI tools for accountants? (1) software that takes a tax return and nullifies all personal details. (2) a web app that takes nullified tax returns and looks for ideas on how to make next year's return even better. It would understand laws, rules, and loopholes to help you figure out how to get the best advantages in your taxes.
- Once.com: What tools can we build ONCE (and charge ONCE) that would be of interest to people? We like the Basecamp owner's models that they are creating now. Is there something in the founder/agency space that we could create that would provide immense value and we could charge a few hundred bucks?
Cupcakes!
We then went over to Anil's favorite cupcake place and bought some
The Ritz
We walked up to the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton and got some pre-dinner drinks.
- Chris's dislike of beers
- Continued discussion on Once.com ideas
- Aslam and Anil's plan for Multidots
- Preparation for a COO "hire"
- Plan for potential small equity stakes.
Dinner!
Colleen cooked an amazing pasta dinner for us while Anil poured salad into a bowl. We also discussed the amazingness of the Nomatic backpacks, books in his office, and the smallness of bedrooms in an old house (all while Aiden played with truck). Lucy decided to love me.
