What did I accomplish today?

Content Day #2 with Kyra Lytrak

Today was the second Content Day, co-hosted with Kyra Lytrak, and it was absolutely phenomenal. We rented out a coworking space owned by Andrea, and the event went really well.

Andrea's RFP — Web Design & Development

Andrea, the coworking space owner, has an RFP that needs web design and development. We chatted about it today. The RFP has a budget between $150,000 and $200,000. Andrea wants to handle all the messaging components and then pass off all design and development to me. She's going to review the RFP, decide how she wants to respond, and then come to me with questions so I can give her the appropriate responses. She has extensive RFP experience from a former career, so submitting responses is second nature to her.

Met Javier Santana — Chemistry / Futures Of

One of my guests, Javier Santana, is connected with Andrea through Chemistry, a company here in Atlanta. One of Chemistry's founders is good friends with Andrea — fun connection point.

Javier hosts something called Futures Of — a gathering of 40-50 really sharp people around Atlanta who host large-scale discussion events. His idea: group people into clusters of 3-4, put microphones on all of them, and shoot video content of them discussing various topics. In their normal meetings they start with 1-2 core questions and let the conversation go 6-7 layers deep. He suggested we should host something like Content Day at one of his Futures Of events.

Met Abby Varma — Quarterly Conference Opportunity

Abby Varma, brought by Kyra, runs a marketing consulting company and started a free quarterly conference that attracts really good speakers. His next event is May 7th, which aligns perfectly with the content day I'm hosting with Mickey.

After his Content Day shoot, Abby came up to Kyra and pitched the idea: his conference gets 150-200 attendees, and he wants us to have a booth area for the Content Day concept. He offered to introduce us to people and put together a schedule so we can meet new folks. We are very much on board.

Content Day at Abby's May 7th Conference — Planning

Our plan for the May 7th event:

  1. Decide on the venue so we know if we have the space to do it
  2. Determine time slots during his 4-hour event for people to record content — thinking people can dip out of sessions for 15-20 minutes to record
  3. Have Abby handpick about half the spots
  4. Open the remaining spots to the rest of the attendees — but NOT with a time-slot selection form. Instead, we'll have them fill out an interest form with questions they want us to ask them
  5. Curate the remaining roster — review all responses, pick who we want, and invite the rest to future Content Days

Did you meet anyone new?

  • Javier Santana — Works with Chemistry in Atlanta. Hosts "Futures Of," a gathering of 40-50 smart people in Atlanta for large-scale discussion events. Connected to Andrea through one of Chemistry's founders.
  • Abby Varma — Runs a marketing consulting company. Hosts a free quarterly conference with 150-200 attendees. Next event is May 7th. Brought by Kyra.

How did you feel about today?

This was a great day. Content Day #2 felt phenomenal, and the connections that came out of it were unexpected and exciting. Andrea's RFP is a significant opportunity, and the May 7th conference idea with Abby could be a huge accelerator for the Content Day concept.

What did you learn today?

Co-hosting events continues to generate outsized returns. Not only did the event itself go well, but it opened doors to an RFP worth $150-200K and a partnership opportunity for a conference with 150-200 attendees. The compounding effects of showing up in person and hosting things are real.

Ideas

Content Day at Futures Of

Hosting a Content Day at one of Javier's Futures Of events — small groups with microphones having deep conversations. The format practically writes itself for content creation.

Content Day Booth at Conferences

The booth concept at larger conferences could become a repeatable model. Show up at events with 150+ people, offer a curated content recording experience, and use it as a way to meet new folks and expand the Content Day brand.
