Meetings Recap

• Prayed with David Reis this morning. We are both sick. It was short lol
• Decided to keep HubSpot -- it's only $180 for the year. Not worth risking the loss
• Went to urgent care and got a LOT of drugs. Got Dose #1 of the steroid as an injection. That was a new experience lol
• Didn't call Erin, but sent her an email tonight about getting together tomorrow impromptu.
• I did chat with Elisabeth. She is VERY chill. I need to email her a recap of our conversation tomorrow and get her setup in our system so she can do Lumberock's import. That's key. If you can find our transcript, I'd love a draft.
• I chatted with Rebecca about her website need. I need to follow up with her tomorrow on a cell phone call. Add that to the calendar. 30 minutes. I want to show her a Style Guide to see if we're on the right track. I think that will sell her quicker. She does seem a bit "know it all" and "scattered" at the same time.
• We went to Allie's parent's house for dinner to celebrate Amaw's (Allie's grandmother's) 89th birthday. That was why we skipped OTF and church (... I skipped church because I am sick... blergh)

Deliverables

• Made a ton of work on Lumberock. Ended up editing the Style Guide application and made it super robust. Hoping to show this to Erin Dyer tomorrow and see if I can get her blessing on moving forward with a lot of this stuff. We'll want to design a couple of custom blocks that they'll need, but the stuff I've done through the Style Guide actually gets them 80% of the way there. That sounds pretty freaking exciting.
• Really long call with Gavin over at Local Jungle — defined what the next steps for the plugin are going to be. I'm basically going to be building out the custom blocks for the header section. That will pull in the location's address, the location's phone number, and then the call to action next to the navigation bar. We also need to build out a custom block that showcases all the locations' addresses, times of operation, and phone numbers. A sample of that was in the video call we had today. That'll be a very easy block to build out, and my goal is to make progress on that by next week, but I don't need to finish it.
• Canceled the Consume Media meeting today where I was going to walk them through how to import content into their site because I honestly just wasn't feeling well. They were perfectly fine with that.

New Clients / Prospects

• Rebecca Galuppo — Referred by John Ortiz (Miracle Mile Las Vegas connection). Very tight scope of work, but haven't gotten to budget yet. Only had a phone call today and it got cut short because she had to hop on another call. Diving into really good details. Downside is I didn't have that call recorded because it was a phone call, so I need one more conversation with her — that should be tomorrow. Need to just call her and get info about the SEO content writing, even though she said she's going to provide all the copy. Where's the balance there? Would also love to show her the Style Guide I've been building for Lumberock except converted to TexBuilt — a lot of the blocks she highlighted were actually very similar to what Lumberock needs. If we can pull some consistency there, that would be great.
• Sherry at the State of Georgia — Called and texted her today to see if their meeting moved anything this past week. She said they were in a hearing so she couldn't call back.

Reflections

What worked today worth repeating: Really enjoyed implementing more of the style guide. I feel like that could be a secret weapon to getting sites through the design phase a lot faster. The downside is we just need to increase the number of blocks over time. I also like the ability to basically be able to edit the HTML code straight and not have to work through WordPress with that. The downside is just going to be how is that going to all convert into WordPress? Every block cannot be a custom block, but maybe I'm wrong with that. Maybe it could be with some very specific areas where you can drop in inner blocks.

What surprised you: My enjoyment of actually working on the Lumberock project. I think there's an aspect where I actually like the starting of things in reality. I don't like the maintenance of the building of them at the end of the day, and so I feel bad because if she likes this, I'm gonna cut down the amount of work that Claude needs to do. He also has a fairly minimal scope on this one too, so he probably won't be too sad about that, but I definitely enjoy it; it was a lot of fun.

I'm also really like hanging out with Gavin over at Local Jungle. Me and him have a lot of similarities, and our conversations definitely follow tangents often, but we're also super productive, so I'm very thankful for doing some consulting work with a person that I actually like.

Anything bugging you or worth chasing: I'm a little bit concerned about bringing the content importer in, Elisabeth, and her name is spelled with an S. She was on my meeting calendar from earlier today. I wonder if Dawn will feel threatened by any of that, but also I feel like this is not a decision that I really have to go to her with. It's just this is what I would like to do, so there is an aspect of me that wishes I cleaned house in January, but such is life.

Open Loops

• Need to figure out who's going to the banana ball game next weekend. Ended up having too many people commit, so I need to figure out who to say yes to and who to say no to. Honestly, I'll figure that out tomorrow — piece of cake.
• Need to make sure Brandon Adams over at ATS gets these meetings scheduled with these other companies. Very important to make sure they're moving forward with site map and content structures.
• Should probably do webinar prep for Chris Dubois — his thing is coming up in like a week and a half and that's not cool. Feel like we needed to advertise this already and I kind of dropped the ball on that.
• Need to get Jaci Lund's event rolling as well, but I think I already have a task for that.
• Given that I canceled all my meetings tomorrow and I'm not going to the Brighter Web meetup anymore, I think I just need to make progress on the Chris Dubois thing a lot tomorrow.

Side note

Joshua Hayes (New York Avenue) told me today that maybe I should just run events for a living — apparently I'm really good at it. He has now said that, my entire SEO forum has said that, and David Feldman has alluded to it but hasn't actually said it. Just interesting.

This could change the whole delivery model.
